I'm not upset. I thought Lowry would get more. He plays the shutdown role on most nights. Had a terrible year last year with injuries but has been back to normal this year. I dont get the Sam Bennett comparison. Both were drafted with different roles.

It honestly has very little to do with Lowry, except a certain poster is utterly obsessed with grasping every opportunity to irrationally #### on Sam Bennett.

What are his offensive zone starts? If I had to guess based on his role, he's a defense-first player, so he's never going to be consistently above 50%, but he's also not really that far below 50 either, so it's not a big deal considering his role.
I've always liked him begrudgingly. He often makes big and important plays that turn the tide. The forechecking abilities are very high end. He was never going to leave Winnipeg with his dad there now and being appreciated so much in the organization. Good on him for getting a long-term deal.

What? They have qualified for the playoffs three times since arriving in Winnipeg in 2011. Since Lowry joined the team that is 3/6 years. Their worst years are pretty nearly on par with the Flames's worst, and their best is only marginally better. The only thing the Jets have on Calgary in that time is a single year in which they actually won playoff rounds.
Winnipeg is garbage.

Hey, don’t discount Lowry’s contribution in their run to the WCF. 2 points.

Lowry would've been viewed as a Flames legacy on this board because of his old man, favourably or unfavourably, YMMV.

Its sad that in Canada winning 2 rounds is a run
I don't know enough about Lowry to comment other than it seems long for not a top player and I want to live in an alternate universe where Dave Lowry scored the OT winner in game six of the finals after coming from behind the bench to play. (almost actually happened)

Makes the Laughton signing look a whole lot better.

Primary assist in the gwg it OT, (Marcus Nilson), but point remains.
Tore stomach muscles in January 2004, everyone wrote him off, tried to come back in Detroit series, lasted two games and then was hurt again, went behind the bench to help, then came back later in SJ series and for the Finals.
He was given the hardhat for Game 6 after coming back, and, beating SJ (his former team) by Conroy, who had it after Flames won Game 5 SJ (Conroy scored GWG there). And thus Lowry was responsible for giving it out to the next guy when Flames won next...which was game 1 SCF, and he gave it to....Turek, for being a solid teammate and helping the Flames getting to where they did in the season, even though fans had dismissed him. Class.
Between that and the flip of the puck out of play to allow Berube to come out of the penalty box in the brawl game vs ANA in 2001, have all day for a guy like Lowry.

Gods, please stop already. Bennett is gone, let it go! Or at least keep it in the Bennett thread.

It's funny reading about how New Era saying about sick of hearing about Sam Bennett, well I'd like to chime in. I'm sick of hearing about New Era 'ing on Sam Bennett. It's really, I mean really getting tiring.

Your obsession with Sam Bennett has affected us negatively in the following ways.....

After last night's game how good would Lowry look as a Flame for the same cap hit as Ryan.

Adam Lowry is under contract for five more years. Ryan is a pending UFA and will almost certainly be had for a lot less money and term.
