Celebrated Square Root Day

Incredible. I hope it's a sign of another great year. Would love to see Tiger regularly in contention again, makes golf so much more exciting to follow.
It would also be nice to see Spieth find whatever's missing and become relevant again. He's shown signs a couple times of finding it again.

Wonder what happened to KillerCarlson, he was like the golf guy on CP and disappeared at some point.

IMO Tiger was already the GOAT prior to the 2017 come back. But you would have to think this win cements him firmly? Even if he doesn’t match Nicklaus 18 majors. Woods has had to play with a much more competitive field and under a bigger spotlight. Would be tough to imagine he doesn’t at least pull out another win or two this year with such a hot start as this.

Fired as in they did something wrong, or just let go cause they didn't want them anymore?

McCord being McCord speaks out on his dismissal
Quote:
When golf broadcasting iconoclast Gary McCord signed his last contract with CBS Sports two years ago, he says that Sean McManus, president of the network’s sports division, told him he could stay as long as he wanted.
“He said to me, ‘You’ve been here so long, when you want to go, you tell me.’ I don’t recall telling him that,” McCord said with notable wryness after news broke last week that his two-year option with the network was not picked up, ending his career of 30-plus years at CBS.
“This is not how I would have preferred to see it end,” McCord said. “I’m going on 72. I’ve been doing this for 30-odd years. I knew I was coming to the end of the deal, but I was going to go out on my terms. That’s not happening now.
|
Quote:
“He [McManus] tells me, and he told Peter the same thing, that ‘We think CBS golf is getting a little stale, and we need to go in another direction,’ ” McCord told Golf Digest by phone from his home in Scottsdale. “I’ve been called a lot of things, but one thing I’ve never been called is stale.”
|
Quote:
Words from the late Frank Chirkinian, the famed producer who gave McCord his shot behind a microphone, still ring in his ears. It was a warning that has come to fruition. “He told me once to not get too comfortable. He said to me with that deep voice of his, ‘You gotta remember something—this is the company that fired f---ing Walter Cronkite.’ That was after they fired him, too. He was right. Wow.”

The President's Cup has actually been exciting this year. The golf has been good with the Internationals leading 10-8 heading to the final day. Can they actually win?
The side show with Patrick Reed has also been interesting with the fans giving it to him pretty good. 4 fans even dressed up as his caddy and had their shovels confiscated. Speaking of Reed's caddy, he won't be participating in the final day after shoving a fan. His response wasn't very tactful either.
Woods has called the fans over the top while Els responded calling the Cup quiet compared to those in the States. Should be fun tomorrow!

I love Woods but I strongly feel this is a little bitter as it's not on American soil. Him and all the yanks laugh and gush over this stuff when it's in the US.

Maybe, but apparently some of the stuff being said was way over the line.
Comments about Reeds wife and his estrangement from his family etc.
I dislike Reed as well, and he deserves to be heckled for some things, but the guys family is off limits.

True enough, but the comment that caused the shove by the caddie was just "You f'n suck Reed!" I'm surprised there wasn't some kind of suspension for the cheating thing. That was very blatant, and he should have at least been DQ'd.

No.
His entire history, even going back to his college days, says he is a bad person.
Really good player but a complete ass.

Hadwin finished #50 on the nose in the last world golf rankings for the year to sneak into the 2020 Masters, and got into the Open championship and WGC St jude's with his President's cup pick. With Weir, that's 3 Canadians in the Masters this year for the first time I can remember in a while.
Hadwin and Conners should both be in the most of the majors and WGCs this year and the Olympics, so shaping for a good year in Canadian golf!

I'm going to the Amex tomorrow.
Rickie, Phil and the canucks are mostly at the Nickalus course, so that's where I'm headed.
