10 rookies dressed for the Canes.
Stringer looks so awkward but they are certainly giving him bucket loads if ice time and opportunity to prove himself. He's nowhere near as good as Cozens was at the same age but he's still going to be pretty decent.
Thacker, Wheatcroft and Jones all looked decent up front. Nash looked over matched as expected, but he'll get better as he gains experience.
Cotton looks poised for a break out year and Thiessen looked pretty solid on D as well.
Best news though for me, Thomson looked really, really good. Very Skinner-esque. He and Tetachuk might just drag that team to a wild card spot.

I have not been impressed with Stringer. I saw him a few times last year and thought he stuck out in a bad way. I chalked it up to nerves of being the young kid joining a team late in the year.
Once again this year, I'm just not impressed.

Yeah it's somewhat odd. He's really good for a 16 year old, but he's not "play him on your top line in a game 7 when he's just 15 years old good" which is exactly what Kisio did in last years playoffs.
They are treating him like he's at Cozens level, and I just don't see it. Hopefully it pays off for the next few seasons.

Cozens assigned to the Canes already. Wasn't expecting him back so quickly. Sweet.

I have watched Stringer a lot over the last four years. Other then his work and effectiveness on the PK under Mike Dyck, he never really did a lot to impress, except put up points. He is not a good skater, his hands are okay, not physical, is neither really a great playmaker or a great finisher. He is however the least noticeable point per game player you will ever see, he works his can off, has quite the touch around the net and has hockey sense that is off the charts, and character to match it, as a teenager he has battled and overcome more then any of us could imagine He is always in the right place at the right time and currently still a 16 year old in a 19 year old league.

I agree with you DS as I've seen him a ton as well through his Bantam/Midget years. He's always had the size, but never the strength which I think this year we will start to see more so with the Canes. Nash is a hard nosed forward who will go into the dirty areas which can work. Stringer is an outside player who gets knocked off the puck often. I won't ever question his work ethic because I believe that he does work. But I would like to see the Canes make him get stronger before putting him into these situations so young.

Canes didnt hang on to Phare very long. Dealt him to Everett for a 2023 6th rounder.

By the way, any Canes fans know why Anholt dealt Shepard to Van? That string of trades make zero sense to me unless it was a trade request.
Franklin would have been more useful last year that Shepard was, and now Shepard would be more useful than the pick they got for him. Hell, Franklin would still be more useful on this roster than D Jay Jerome in my opinion.

Top 10 CHL franchises in terms of developing NHL players
1. London Knights
2. Kelowna Rockets
3. Kitchener Rangers
4. Portland Winterhawks
5. Flint Firebirds (Plymouth Whalers)
6. Red Deer Rebels
7. Owen Sound Attack
8. Calgary Hitmen
9. Moose Jaw Warriors
10. Vancouver Giants
Interestingly enough this lines up pretty closely with the consensus top-10 CHL franchises in terms of team success most years as well. That top-4 is pretty much the top-4 programs in the country, probably in that order.

Its early but I'm liking the Canes young team so far. 3-2-1 to start but could have easily been 5-0-1 because both regulation losses they dominated and were realy unlucky to lose.
Cozens is on another level, and Addison is dominating as well.

The Hitmen are doing a Special Bret the Hitman Hart game on Nov2, with some wrestling matches on the ice after the game. Those jerseys are for that game.
Money from a lot of things connected to the game will be donated to the Calgary Prostate Cancer Centre and the Man Van will be at the game.
There's some info on the Hitmen website.

It’s almost as if the jersey designer doesn’t know how to draw wings. Either that or he wanted to draw hair. Pick one or the other
He should’ve used something like this
The facemask with the glasses look good
