Suncatcher is the new nine. At this point in the year the rough is pretty forgiving and it plays pretty easy. If you play now and then later this summer you'd see a significant difference if you're off the fairway because the rough gets thick and deep!

Yeah, I lost at least three balls that I know were within 6 feet of the fairway! Always such a horrible feeling

That’s the worst. Honestly, that’s too stiff a penalty for a shot that’s not that bad, but such is life.

Suncatcher's greens last year were pretty slow but it's new and sped up during the course of the year. Dancing Bull's greens are very fast. Also, the back 9 of SC is supposed to open this summer

Yah you basically have to book a week out and cancel as needed. No other option other than playing during the day during the week.

It was another great day on the golf course with one more to go before bad weather sets in on Sunday.

Nanton, like most other courses needs a realy good soaking rain. Greens are about the only green on the course right now.

Lot's of people phoning in to the proshop to get tee times, only to be told the course is full.

There isn’t a tee time before 5 pm within 2 hours of Calgary available tomorrow apparently.

Crazy.

Went -1 through 4 holes and even through 9. What a wild ride of everything going right (typically 85-95, but 89-95 is more the norm, so this was really special.

...then the real me came out and dunked two on the back 9, plus a duff that went 5 feet on a par 5, then two strokes to get out of a bad area to the fairway. Finished with an 84.

The hilarious thing is if the gold wasn't all on the front nine I would have been ecstatic with that score. Not to mention there was some slight pain from the birdie on the second hole, par 3 lipping out by millimetres to take away the hole in one.

But it was kind of neat to see what it feels like to be a scratch golfer for a couple of hours.

It’s ok. Not all that great. Might as well play it before it’s gone though.

I’ve got the Canal this afternoon. Going to be a beautiful day.

I see from the YYC Costco Facebook page that there are rumours of these arriving soon. Short version: Like everything Kirkland, these are good for the money, but will pride let you put it in your bag?

He believe the putter comes from Odyssey.

Okay, I was going to go back and re-read the app discussion, but maybe I'll ask fresh - I won't be using any apps for in game play as I just have no interested in continually going for the phone all round.

But what do you guys use for tracking your scores over the course of a season?

EDIT: Just a final score input is fine, but if one had the ability to actually input your 18 holes and track your amount of pars/birdies/bogeys over the year that could be useful, too.

Just get one of the apps (GameBook or the grint for example) then enter your scores in after the round.

I really enjoyed Lakeside. It's not the best course around, but it was fun. Some of the nicest bunkers I've played out of in Calgary.

I've liked Golfshot over the years, include on course GPS but you can track all sorts of stats as a result. Bit of a battery muncher as a result.

I've been using this one for a few years now, partly developed locally . You can use it real time but I mostly use it to enter stats after a round. I track fairways hit/missed (and which direction), greens hit/missed (and what direction) and number of putts.
