Tsitsipas is only 22, and he was clutch beating Federer at the AO and coming back against Nadal down 2 sets at the AO this year. Give it two years and he will be world #1

I mean Medvedev could have been #1 after this event, but that doesn't mean anyone considers him the best player in the world. Guys will win majors and be #1 when the Big 3 retire, but it's because someone will have to. I suspect we'll enter an extended stretch of new major winners and not many repeat winners.

Ya I agree with this. It will be much like the Women's game is now.

Which is fine for us as tennis fans, but the casual interest won't exist. It's why as much as the die hard might hate dynasties, they are good for the sports because the casual wants to see greatness, and it's the casual the elevates sport financially far more than the diehard.

This is correct. Even fans who don’t consider themselves casual kind of want this. And some want this without realizing it too.

And this is why I think all sports are ####ed in the long run. There are just way, way too many competitors for the entertainment dollar/interest. Why watch two mediocre teams or players play when you have dozens and dozens of other options for your time? It's why I suspect we're going to see sports leagues turn more and more to gambling to prop up interest, because at least if you have some skin in the game, so to speak, you will pay attention.

I think the best way to sum up Rafa at the French is he's rendered a major the least interesting, most irrelevant event on tour for 17 years.

while it's true that his FO dominance has led to most years being drama-free formalities, I'm not exactly sure what Rafa is supposed to do from his side. enter the tournament only every other year? suck on purpose for the sake of the broadcasters? he can only work with who is put in front of him, and he has all of them mentally beat even before warmups.
if Djoker wants to continue building his goat resume, he needs to nut up and get to work. stop hitting overheads like a half blind senior at the local club and own the baseline like he's capable of. maybe it would help if he pretended like the crowd was booing him every point.

^^I would say it's far more about Novak steadying things than Nadal being nervous. Novak looked like dog#### the first 5 games but has arguably been the better player since.

I don't expect him to do anything different. I'm just acknowledging some Challenger event in the middle of ####ing nowhere has been more unpredictable than an actual major the last 17 years.

This might end in a match abandonment, because we might get a riot if they have to make the fans leave in a 4th/5th set.
