The ECHL announced on Tuesday that the League’s Board of Governors has approved the Membership applications of the Allen Americans, Brampton Beast, Missouri Mavericks, Quad City Mallards, Rapid City Rush, Tulsa Oilers and Wichita Thunder for admission to the ECHL.

The seven expansion teams will begin play in the ECHL this season, giving the League 28 teams in 20 states and one Canadian province for its 27th season of operation, which begins on Friday, Oct. 17 and runs through Saturday, April 11.
perhaps the first step towards the rumored AHL changes next season

I read that headline as Canadian Hockey League.

Am I reading it correct?

Awesome news! Higher level hockey in Wichita finally. Not that the ECHL is awesome or anything, but I have to assume the product we see in Wichita is going to improve. Might actually go to a game or two this season now!

Nice to see Quad City with a hockey team.

I see Denver didn't move over so I guess they are toast, also Arizona and St. Charles. Our once own Captain Morgan was playing for Arizona.

We've known forever that the Oiler franchise had gone south.
