Default IT Advice

I am looking for IT support for my personal computer on an ongoing basis. I don't mind paying a fee. Can anyone recommend someplace? I have heard of Geek Squad. Are there any other companies like this that you can recommend?

I think it depends on what you're specifically looking for. If its just for your home computer or personal computer then yeah, probably Geek Squad, but just be prepared to spend about $100.00 an hour and not get the most skilled people.

Doesn't everybody have a "Computer expert" in their family that will fix your computer for gas money and a slice of pie?

Memory Express. It’s where I go for 99% of my own computer needs, and a place I feel comfortable sending family to.

Memory express hands down, but if you want dirt cheap and remote help you can always use Fiverr.com to find reputable IT help.

Its almost always from India, Pakistan, but if you just check out their reviews and how long they have been active you can find good people.

No. Where (generally) do you live? Geek squad isn't great, but can usually be trusted at least. The IT support industry can be really hit or miss because the really good companies don't want to do consumer support directly.

You could just ask here as well. There are a lot of really knowledgeable members who are always happy to help.

Why do you need ongoing support on a personal computer? What exactly are you trying to do on that computer?

I'd suggest you learn the basics yourself. Anti-virus, firewalls, software maintenance, basic hardware cleaning and swapping (ie: SSD cloning etc), defragging/TRIM and other stuff. It's pretty easy IMO and there's always YouTube to show you how to do things step by step for most things. That's what I do and I only employ IT professionals for advanced stuff.
