Jeebus Black Mirror is freaking depressing sometimes. Ok, a lot of the time.
I liked the Arkangle episode. The was definitely issues with the episode, but it gives me reassurance when my daughters are exposed to something I don't like. I just tell myself its normal, they need to get exposed to some uncomfortableness or they will end up psychopaths.
Has anyone with kids watched Hilda? The show is getting great reviews. My boys might be too old for it but the animation looks incredible and the story looks like a fun adventure. Adventure Time/Gravity Falls-esque.

My kids (9 & 12) loved the books and ended up watching all of the episodes (which apparently followed the books/graphic novels pretty closely). I thought it was pretty good as well. I would say it borders closer to Adventure Time than Gravity Falls.
They seemed to have covered all of the books, so I don't know if there is enough for another season.

Maniac was decent enough all the way through. Things are a little off putting when they dive into the STNG style holodeck stories. But I suppose its to be expected when you're making a mini-series with inception style psycho stuff with a touch of black comedy.
Theory:
Spoiler!
They're still in a simulation at the end of the last episode. His Fantasy of driving off really fast with her while people are chasing them kind of led me to that.
Going to watch that new thriller they just released. Hold the Dark. Seems like a decent enough flick.

Watched the first few, with the girls (5 & 10)
It’s pretty good. Imaginative and relatable, positive messaging. Fun situations that include metaphors for situations that they may run across, and you can later have available to discuss. I think the article was pretty spot on.
I would recommend as a lot of other shows available are by comparison much more empty.
Has anybody tried watching Maniac? I could not get into it, half-way through the second episode, I gave up, I will try again, but so far thumbs down.
I really enjoyed Maniac. I did enjoy the first two episodes, and was hooked after about three or four. So, if you didn't enjoy the first two, my guess is you won't enjoy the rest of it. It is definitely off beat.
There are a number of ridiculous moments and the show even makes fun of itself. In one episode, a character has a ridiculous accent, and it is even justified based on the crazy mix of who his parents are. And that was my favourite episode.
For some reason, I really like the mix of technology being something that could be near future (similar to in Black Mirror), but then it appears to be set in the 80s with the use of things like 5 1/4 inch floppies and the huge CRT monitors. A lot of the technology feels like it could be just a couple years out, but there is nothing invented in the last 30 years that appears in the show. It's an element that adds to the fun of the show.
I'm actually tempted to re-watch the whole thing. I noticed a few little plot elements that were just a second or two, that I am sure that there are a few other things I missed.
