Olympic Hockey OOT: Feburary 24th Quarterfinals
USA vs Switzerland - 1:00pm MST
Finland vs Czech Republic - 8:00pm MST
Sweden vs Slovakia - 10:00pm MST
Go Switzerland!! Actually after last nights games, I expect anything. I wouldn't be shocked if the Swiss actually beat the US.

Can those times be right? Only a 2 1/2 turnaround between Canada / Russia and Finland / Czech, and only 2 hours between that and the final game! No chance those later games get going on time.

Those were the same times as last night's games. I think they play at different rinks?

Not sure who to cheer for in the Finland-Czech game. I'd like to see Kipper have success and come back with a medal. On the other hand, if they lose tonight, he'll get a full week of rest before his next game.

I hope the Suisse/USA game is good. I hope the Swiss can pull out the upset somehow, but I doubt it.

I kinda want the US in the finals. A dream matchup at this point for everybody- players, countries, networks. Would make for a killer gold medal game.
Still, I wouldn't be upset with a Swiss victory, At any rate, I hope they can wear the Americans down some. Play stingy defence and trap it up.
After the Czechs laid an egg last night, I fully expect Finland to dominate that game. Haven't watched more than a period or two of Sweden, while the Slovaks have impressed me. I'll say Halak shines and outduels an ailing Lundqvist.
Slovakia vs. Canada
and
USA vs. Finland in the semis.
Go Canada!

Screw all you Czech haters (/sarcasm). I am cheering for the easier route for the Czechs so go slovaks, swiss and Russia.
Anyword on Jagr's status?
As per finalnd dominating based on the Czech play last night, I wouldn't bank on it. Its a one game event and there is no reason why this game shouldn't go into overtime with either team having a chance. Both these teams seem to match up quite well.

Anyone who thinks Finland will dominate the Czech's didn't watch the Finland/Sweden game. It was like watching the Flames play over the last few months. I sure hope they put in a better effort today.

LOL, you are correct, but did you watch the Czechs last night? Aside from Krecji and Fleischmann, there wasn't much energy or emotion at all after the first period. They were stinky.
Still a supremely talented squad, but I like Finland's chances with Kipper, a killer PP, and that Finnish determination that has helped them medal in 2 of the last 3 Olympics.

True, but the Czechs are no Team Sweden.

Is Kipper confirmed to play in net? Should be a pretty good game if both teams show up.

I personally think the Czechs and Slovaks will be much better tonight having escaped their worst night mare. For them to lose their games last night would have been disgraceful. Tonight they can have more of the nothing to lose mentality. Similar thing for the Swiss who didn't want to lose yesterday, now they're playing with the house's money as they say and should be a fair bit looser.
Those one and out games where one team is a heavy favorite are a different animal. Today there really is only one game where the result could be considered a major upset.
