Johnny will be better under Babcock than Lindholm.
He was under (however it happened) the same concerns that Backlund had post season..whether Sutter blasted the Swedes this year or what. Babcock is cut from the same cloth, or at least he was.

Players can tolerate Sutter's methods if it gets results, plus he's won two cups so it has shown his methods work.

Babcock does have one cup with a stacked Detroit team, in that regard similar to Hartley.

I guess a team was always going to give him a 2nd chance. I don't understand why people seem to think this will be an issue for Gaudreau seeing he excelled under Sutter and supposedly wasn't one of the guys that hated Hartley. With the magnifying glass on him I expect Babcock will conduct himself better knowing if he messes up again this would be his last chance.

He absolutely excelled under Sutter. I think he even admitted that he plays better with strict authority behind the bench. I have always viewed him that way, but the popular narrative around here is that he is lazy and wants to be lazy, hence the reason for moving to CBJ.

If anything he will have a resurgence next year. Maybe the best version of Johnny has yet to be seen.
Making/sharing memes of Johnny not liking the coach is more fun though.

The narrative is that Johnny left because Darryl was too hard on him, I don’t buy that, I think Johnny was fine playing for Darryl, and Guy got along with Darryl too.

Lindy seems like the one who can’t handle a tough coach so I can’t see him wanting to go to Columbus and signing long term. And if he won’t sign long term, the return won’t be good.

Babcock's stacked Detroit teams weren't exactly light on Swedes.

True, though Holmstrom, Franzen and Kronwall weren’t exactly stereotype Swedes.

Lindholm was fine under Peters and Sutter. He is not a baby no matter what people are trying to say about him the entire organization grew tired of Sutter it wasn't a 1-2 player thing.

Unless Babcock has changed he won't last long in Columbus Lindholm or not.

It's hard to understand how some people think it's ok to treat people like trash.

How can you make a 'Win Now' move like this when you came in second to DFL in the league last season?

Not sure but it makes sense for them to send us #3 for Lindholm.

They are a Lindholm away from picking 10th next season.

Lol, some of you act like Johnny didn't get over a hundred points and was +60 something under Sutter. This isn't Huberdeau playing for Sutter here. As Papa Gaudreau predicted when Flames hired Sutter, Johnny plays better with a strict coach.

I just think Johnny's going to hate him not because he's strict but because apparently he's an ass.

So Lindholm to Colombus is off the table I would guess.

Either #3 in the draft or Kent Johnson. There would have to be other pieces involved though imo.

A bit of a contrarian opinion... but I don't think that Babcock is that great of a coach. I think he has always been overrated. I don't think he is worth the 'gamble' on (balancing his past behaviours with his success). I guess we will see, but i have always thought of him as an overrated coach.

Columbus is sure to improve anyway. They had a lot of injuries last year, and they also have a great young group of players (and more to come) emerging. If they are making some 'win-now' trades, I definitely hope that Calgary is involved.

I do, however, think that Gaudreau will have a bounce-back season.

I can't wait for Commodore's comments.

It shouldnt be a contrarian opinion. He had success coaching stacked teams. That dried up real fast when he went to Toronto.

He's pretty clearly over-rated.

Looks like Jarmo has entered the desperate-to-keep-his-job phase.
