Not that I want him, but a minor gear grinder of mine. If a player has an NTC and requests a trade, it should invalidate their NTC.

I disagree, If this were the case it could incentivize a team to try to push a player to asking for a trade so that a ntc can be dropped.

It really wouldn’t ever make a difference, as it could be conveyed to the team in many different ways without actually and formally requesting a trade.
A trade request is merely a suggestion from a player that he would prefer to play elsewhere. A team has no legal obligation to honour that request. To suggest that such a request would immediately invalidate any no trade protection a player might have should also then obligate the team to trade such player within a certain period of time.
In any event, players would never agree to such a result.

Yeah, did Carter request a trade from Columbus or did he just visibly pout and play incredibly badly so much they got rid of him?

Out of goalies who played a minimum of 30 games in 22-23 Gibson finished 32nd/35 for goals saved above expected.
In 21-22 he finished 31st/35.
For comparison Markstrom finished 27th in 22-23 and 12th in 21-22.
The Ducks may be bad, but Gibson is very much part of that.

I’d like to see NTCs/NMCs have to be unlocked/earned - they should be reserved for players with a history of producing.
I’d also like to cap the number of Canadian teams that can be on a modified NTC list - this country provides the league with the bulk of its tv revenue. You can’t refuse to play anywhere north of the border.

What would you give the players in return? They have a union. you can't just tell them that's the way it's going to be.

…. They are earned. If you don’t think a player deserves one then you don’t offer one. If someone else offers them one, then you either misread the market or dodged a bullet.

Define "producing". What do you say to a guy like Tanev?

Players are in their own right to get an NTC/NMC if offered. If you don't want it, try to negotiate it where you can have at least some teams they're willing to trade to. I get the NMC argument, but the NTC should stay. The players have families and sometimes do not want to me moved. A few prioritize family over career destination at a shot for a personal accomplishment.

Bye Noah.
(Don't want to see him traded but I just have this feeling they're going to move him)

Travis Hamonic netted a 1st and 2 2nd round picks and so did Hamilton.
I feel like Hanifin has bigger value right now to us. Two 1st round picks would be my ask.
#3 and #22 and a second round pick for Hanifin and #16.

Hanifin is a UFA after next season. Control affects value.
Maybe if Columbus could get him signed to an extension, you might get that value, but with Babcock going there, I doubt any player is going to sign an extension pre-trade without seeing how things go first.
I think the dream of getting the 3OA from Columbus is dead now with Babcock there. No player is signing long term until they get to experience playing under him first.

If the Flyers are blowing it up I'd like Konecny on the Flames. Guy lives here in the off season too I think.

Seems like too good of a fit. Philly might be blowing it up? Maybe a 3 way deal with Columbus involving Hanifin.
