Agreed, those players that have been pushed in, have their goals allowed.
Backlund was not pushed.

He has looked way better since being separated from Andersson. No denying that. His struggles this year can at least partially be explained by his D partner.
If Gio can keep this up for the rest of the season, I will gladly eat crow.

If you have any understanding of the game of hockey and you watch the guy play I dont see how he can have hate thrown his way. But everyone is entitled to their opinion.

How's the oxygen all the way up there?
Hate? Anger? Ridiculous.
Backlund is a smart player and skilled player but if he had a few more ounces of aggressiveness to get a bit dirtier to make plays, keep plays alive and/or stay in scoring areas a few seconds longer to creat a chance, he'd be far more effective offensively, being the 2c he currently is and is paid as.
The chance he had halfway through the period was a perfect example. Makes a good play to create space for him and then cuts across the middle. Senses he's entering a zone where he could get into a good collision and releases his shot a split second early and missed the net as he has a tough angle, whereas holding the puck a spit second longer, he has a wider open net and a much better angle to tap it in.
But sorry, I'll defer all future analysis to the purveyor of hockey knowledge and understanding.

Markstrom can be better but Jake Allen is a really good goalie. I bet Seattle takes him.

Gio used to be able to trust Brodie. Now he can trust Tanev
He has to cover for Andersson
Big difference, playing free

Without question, need to switch up our goalie guy.
Can't be a coincidence every goalie passing through plays worse than after they go elsewhere.
Markstrom is probably the most skilled of all of them, and is playing at least .100 below his average.
Tired of Sigalet and our loyalty to him after season of goalies deteriorating under our watch.
And don't give me the "he's doing what he's expected to and more, this is on the goalies"
It's the same non-coincidence that goalies take steps under Vancouver's guy. Clearly there are different strategies that can be implemented that are more effective than whatever him and Labarbera are implementing.

Isn’t Siglet big picture goalie guy and Labarbera is the day to day guy?
I’m starting to think we have the same curse as Philly.

To me he’s looked disinterested this year, the whole year. I think him and his wife just had a baby earlier in the season but honestly he has looked super lazy this year. I know this is the drum I always beat (sorry) but it’s just true. Never aggressive, doesn’t seem to skate that hard or try that hard. I dunno. I like him as a player but it’s like come on man, don’t be afraid to move those legs. Some nights I’m like is that guy even sweating?

Markstrom is a riddle to me. His career stats are not great. Far from it. He had some decent statistical seasons in Vancouver, and as rival fans we saw him steal some games. I think he's your generic big goalie who can stop the volume shots but is prone to the weak goals. Akin to Mike Smith. I really feel like we locked in long term to a younger Mike Smith. Which scares the pants off me.

I think Ian Clark is leaving Vancouver after this season.
Would be a nice UFA signing.

Based on his 907 shots, the Flames would have let in 16 fewer goals and would be +1 overall, instead of -15 (plus maybe shave off an extra empty netter or two)

From pure statistics that makes sense, and is probably worth 4 or 5 more wins for the Flames. Funny how in a season of atrocities, that goaltending is still an issue.
