Default Telus/Shaw

Hows everyone's experience with Shaw? We're paying way too much for what we're using with Telus, so it was time to play the cancellation game. Telus wasn't willing to play ball, so we're looking at internet only with Shaw.

They're currently offering 84 buckaroos for Fibre 250 for 24 months. Not a screaming deal but it's 100$ less than what we're paying now and we hardly watch TV.

I seem to remember Shaw was a nightmare for a period of time, but it seems like they're back to being merely average.

If you just tell Telus what Shaw is offering you and ask to speak to loyalty and retention, they'll probably match the deal.

That's exactly what I did. They were not interested.

For the past 6 years or so i've been switching back and forth every 2 years because they offer "new customers" a pretty good deal for internet on a 2 year contract.

Telus/Shaw are both not interested in matching competitors "new customer" prices.

A bit of a headache but will save you roughly $300+ over the course of a 2 year term.

My experience is that they're both terrible so if you can't get a screaming deal go with Telus Fibre. If Fibre isn't available in your area then just go with whatever is cheaper because that's the only thing that sets them apart

I've found the way to get the best deal is to go on the Redflagdeal forum thread here and ask for a rep to contact you:

I ended up with a 2-year contract for $129/month for 1.0 Gbit Internet, Total TV, 24 months of Disney+ and $400 bill credit in January.

Shaw's been great for me going on 25 years now- live in an older neighborhood, work from home, no issues at any time of day with slower speeds.

I'd go with a Shaw re-seller if you're going Shaw internet only. There's a few now (TekSavvy, Oxio, etc.) and you'll save a ton. Compare equipment costs too.

Telus always tried to call me to switch and they always bring up slower speeds once everyone gets home from work/school. When I tell them I haven't had that issue for 15 years they say I'm the only lucky person with Shaw they've ever talked to and it's probably because everyone in my neighborhood is already with Telus. Really, the networks have been upgraded so much that it shouldn't be an issue anymore in most areas.

I also can't get Telus fibre because Telus hasn't upgraded a small area in my neighborhood yet and their standard offering can't compete with the speed of anything Shaw has for me... but they tell me to switch over to ther 75Mb connection for the cost of their fibre because it should be upgraded in a couple of months... they've been telling me that since at least 2019 if not longer.

I've known people to have good success with TekSavvy.
