"It's cold out here."
"Welcome to Iceland, bro."
This week, the teams travel to Iceland and see some amazing sights... and are really cold.
David has trouble swimming and it sinks them. Somehow, with a bum leg for most of the race, Emily and Molly survive to make the final.
- Derek & Claire (win Expedia points for a trip to London)
- Luis & Michelle
- Emily & Molly
- Aubrey & David
- Marcus & Michael
- Quinton & Mattie
- Glenda & Lumumba
- Abby & Will
- Linton & Sharik
- Rich & Dom
- Tim & Rex
- Aastha & Nina
- Cheese - Derek & Claire / Emily & Molly
- WhiteTiger - Luis & Michelle / Rich & Dom
- getbak - Marcus & Michael / Tim & Rex
- Fuzz - Abby & Will / Glenda & Lumumba
- Slava - Quinton & Mattie / Abby & Will
- EldrickOnIce - Aubrey & David / Aastha & Nina
- mile - Rich & Dom / Quinton & Mattie
- brocoli - Glenda & Lumumba / Marcus & Michael
- Amethyst - Aastha & Nina / Luis & Michelle
- csnarpy - Tim & Rex / Derek & Claire
- Hockey - Emily & Molly / Aubrey & David
- surferguy - Linton & Sharik / Linton & Sharik
Next week, the teams return to the States for the finale. Someone will go home with $1 million.
Finales usually come down to a big memory challenge and don't usually require a lot of running, so Emily & Molly might have a chance.
Claire is a beast in the memory challenges, so I'd have to give them the edge as long as they're close at the end.

Nice to see some more interesting challenges this round. David made a rookie AR mistake, not learning to swim! Swimming, map reading, driving a stick. Learn it!

When choosing my first pick, I went back and forth between Emily and Molly and Aastha and Nina. Clearly made the wrong pick.
I almost went to Iceland this past summer, but chose Portugal instead. After watching this episode, I think I made the right choice. Looked amazing, but a little more adventurous than I was looking for!

Kind of a shame that his inability to swim cost them.
Also...I wonder if this means that the Amazing Race needs to ramp it up if someone with a bum leg for almost the entire Race is in the top three.

I dunno, I've spent the past 2 months limping around on a bad knee, and I was cheering for them over other teams. They hit a major piece of adversity and pushed through it, finding ways to win through other means.
David couldn't swim in the Amazing Race. That's something they had control over, and it's pretty well known by now you should know how to swim if you go on the race.
So who deserves it more? The team who had no choice and fought through it, or the team that didn't prepare and got burned?

That's what I've been wondering the last couple episodes, honestly. If a team who has a member with a bum leg CAN beat you, maybe you didn't want it enough.
So I'm conflicted about this.

"The margin for error is like almost zero and we just made a huge error."
This week, the teams fly to Nashville for the final leg in a race for $1 million. It's a close leg that anyone could have won.
As always, the final leg comes down to a memory challenge, but this one had the added challenge of a very quick time limit. Derek & Claire finish first and win it all.
- Derek & Claire (win $1,000,000 and The Amazing Race #34)
- Emily & Molly
- Luis & Michelle
- Aubrey & David
- Marcus & Michael
- Quinton & Mattie
- Glenda & Lumumba
- Abby & Will
- Linton & Sharik
- Rich & Dom
- Tim & Rex
- Aastha & Nina
Congrats to Cheese for capturing the rare gold and silver in the Calgarypuck pool, and to csnarpy for getting the other gold... - Cheese - Derek & Claire / Emily & Molly
- WhiteTiger - Luis & Michelle
- Amethyst - Luis & Michelle
- csnarpy - Derek & Claire
- Hockey - Emily & Molly

"We're dancers, we don't know what instruments are...."
WTF, how can they not know the difference between electrical and acoustic guitars...and that the 'black things' on a piano are keys, too. Eesh.
Still, not a bad finale. Derek & Claire ran away with it.

It seems like Emily and Molly kept making navigation errors and Luis and Michelle kept making task errors. And Derek and Claire didn't. The only disappointment is that my team didn't win, but Derek and Claire ran a good race.
One thing that drives me crazy is when they are rushing around, asking people to help them win a race for $1million dollars. Unless you're planning to share the $ with me, don't bother mentioning it.
