I don't remember Kid Street. I do remember a show that was on Sundays hosted by Humble Howard and had 60's Batman episodes spliced in. Don't remember the name though. Was it shot in Calgary?

The Kirkland muffins used to be one of my favorites when I was younger. now I just can't justify the 600-690 Calories per muffin.
That's such a downer about so many delicious foods. I wish I knew to savour Cinnabons, poutine, slurpees and KFC Big Crunches more when I was 18 and could eat an unlimited amount of anything. Or Pilsbury cinnamon rolls - I remember buying a sleeve of those, baking them, and eating them all in one sitting.
Now I just feel constantly guilty for eating too many calories on a normal day, and when I eat something amazing my enjoyment is tempered by the guilt even as I'm eating it.

I read now though that they are owned by the same people - didn't know that.
Only since 2016, according to Wikipedia.

The same format with shared pre-produced segments aired across Canada on the CBC with different local hosts. I think Humble Howard only hosted for the first season before he left Calgary. After that, he was replaced by co-hosts. One of them was the guy who ran the caricature booth at the Stampede every year.

I don't know if Costco changed something in their ingredients around 3 or 4 years ago but I can't eat Costco muffins anymore without destroying my gut. In the past, I bought the muffins on pretty much every trip to Costco but now I only buy them once every three or four months and I regret it every time afterwards.
I eat lots of other pastry, cakes and cookies without issue so it must be something that has changed in the muffins.
Recall one birthday ad a kid we went there (had to be 16 to drive the fast cars, we weren't 16) and then to Chuck E Cheese on 32 Ave NE just east of Barlow. A long way out of the way for kids in the south.
Other kids or teened themed shows of the 80s and 90s was Scoop on 2 and 7,Spelling Bee on 2 and 7,and NRG with Anita Ritter, on 4 and 5.
There was a short-lived local kiddie show that CFAC offered as competition to CFCN's Buckshot Show called "Gwynn's Pad." It was basically this creepy hippie with a pornstache and matching polyester fringed vest/slacks combo with a paisley wide-collared shirt. Which was the style at the time.
Gwynn's sidekick was "Robbie The Robot" except he pronounced it "Robe-Bee." Anyway, Robbie was a non-ambulatory robot who talked and barfed out bags of Old Dutch potato chips and was probably just a pimped-out vending machine. They had to cut to commercial early one time because some kid got his hand stuck in Robbie's chute/mouth.
And I swear I'm not making this up.

I just missed out on getting to go to Spelling Bee. The school got to take 4 kids to be on the show plus 1 alternate in case someone got sick or freaked out being on camera. They did a test of all the kids in grade six and the top 5 got to go. I finished 6th.

I was an alternate, so I got to go. I also got to hand the card to Ed for the secret word, which was a geographical location (waskesiu?).
They showed us around the Kidstreet set next door too. Ice cream and pop provided post show as well.

Scoop either started in Lethbridge or we had our own version of it. I went to school with Lindy Moriyama and Tammy Jean Young, the original hosts.

I think you're referring to Wynn's Pad. If we're talking about the same show, I wouldn't say it was competition for Buckshot but that's not important. Anyway, I was on the show as a kid, on my birthday or something. Liked the free chips.

Yes, Wynn's Pad. Thanks.
Turns out this guy was Wynn(e) Hanson and had a lounge act back in the day and even put out an album. Ended up owning a music store in Red Deer.
It was driving me nuts last night Googling "Gwynn's Pad."

Has anyone else played hockey as a kid there? My Atom team was invited to a tourney. I remember the ice been so hard/smooth compared to the awful city arenas. One of the best memories of my life
I’ve only been on the ice there once but was shocked at how poor it was. Rutted and in terrible condition. And that was after a flood. I hope that’s just because they didn’t put a big effort into prepping it as the Flames were out of town at the time.
It's on the outs because it's terrible. Populated by old people with no taste buds left, or old people and their family that they suckered into coming. Die, Swiss Chalet.
But we can agree BP's is no better, right?
