Initial count of how many times Justin Trudeau said Doug Ford in that news conference is 15. Will update if we missed or added one too few/many Dougs.

By contrast, Justin Trudeau said “Andrew Scheer” (the name of the guy he’s actually running against) just four times in that news conference. #cdnpoli #onpoli

Not withstanding the damaged goods that is Conrad Black, he nails the campaign to-date pretty well in this piece.

I can't wait to see that Federal Provincial negotiation over healthcare after Trudeau has spent time dragging Moe, Kenney and Ford through the mud.

Good luck with that relationship.

That's not even the worst thing Singh said today, he also stated that under an NDP gov Provinces would have veto power over infrastructure projects, and I think we all know which projects (correction: lone remaining project) he's talking about. Kiss Confederation goodbye idiot.

One of many who is too boring; thinks that there should be rules regarding grammar in custom user titles, and also makes moderators wonder if there is a charachter limit here. I mean come on- you would think that would be a limitation in the software

As gutless as it is, Singh's strategy is sound from one perspective: his own power. He's trying to get enough votes in BC and Quebec to be the power behind the throne in a Liberal minority. And he really does not seem to care how much damage his proposals would do to the country.

Fortunately, even in that scenario, I doubt the Liberals play ball. Because they know as well as we do that Singh's veto proposal would end Canada as a going concern.

I don't think so. They'd probably hope to be like the Green Party - get some name recognition and build themselves up to where they can get some seats.

Wouldn't you have to open the constitution to allow provincial trade vetos?

It's really hard to say. Right now, the PPC looks like little more than Maxime Bernier throwing a temper tantrum because he lost the CPC leadership. And he just doesn't strike me as the kind of person to stick with it for four years in the hinterland building a grassroots movement. If he loses his seat and/or his party gets shut out, my bet is he walks.

And what is left behind for someone else to take over will be little more than another Christian Heritage Party.

I would think so, right now inter provincial infrastructure like pipelines etc is a federal Mandate not provincial.

The last thing you want to do is give provinces a veto. That's just stupid.

However it would make negotiations more interesting.

BC "We're vetoing your pipeline to the coast"

Alberta "We're vetoing your hydro electric lines and natural gas pipelines"

Singh would also allow Quebec to collect income tax on behalf of CRA.

This would be awesome for Alberta. Hope you like junk bonds, NDP.

OTTAWA — In an era of “fake news” controversies, photoshopping a reuseable metal straw and a reuseable cup into the hand of Green Party Leader Elizabeth May would not be the greatest idea.

But that’s what the Green Party did and then prominently displayed it on the party website.
Such fakery in the middle of an election raises issues of how such misinformation is used, say experts in the “fake news” phenomenon.

I agree with everything except the bolded part.

If his upbringing and privilege blinded him to why it was wrong what he did, then he has no clue how to fight for the middle / lower class, and that makes him unworthy to be Prime Minister.
