Default Managing Laptop Attachments

Question to smart people here. How do you manage your laptop attachments?

I have a 12-inch MacBook for traveling. It's really nice – small, thin, light, excellent graphics. But its compactness comes with a huge shortcoming - only one USB-C input. Everything has to be connected through this one little port. So, I carry a pouch with few attachments - a VAVA dongle port, a couple of 2TB hard drives, SD cards, charger, headphones etc. When spread out on an airplane table or on other tight surfaces, these accessories just get in a way, take over the space, fall off etc. I was thinking, there has got to be some sort of a bracket or clip that can be attached to the back of the screen to hold those those things in place ... or something like that. Sales-kids at BestBuy didn't know of any. Maybe, there isn't...

Can anyone suggest a good way of managing these attachments, if you have one?

If you have access to a 3D printer, there might be some ideas on Thingiverse

I have all these things to manage. You know what would make it better? Another thing.

Those metal bag clips.

Wouldn't want to be adding things to the laptop back. The simpler solution I'd imagine is to get a bag for those things and hang it from the seat in front of you.

You thought you were being modern, but really you went back in time...

Seriously, why get a slim laptop like that if it clearly doesn't meet your remote needs.

Because it's amazing. I travel a lot for business, so I do need to carry a capable laptop. I have 5 of them, from 13" to 17". They are all relatively heavy for travel, but manageable. I also do a lot of photography and for a while I was thinking of buying one of those hard drives with card slots to dump files to in the field, when the cards become full. Carrying a normal laptop is not an option. For a bit more money, I bought a 12" Retina MacBook, which, again, is an amazing piece of machinery for all of the technical specs I've already listed. I didn't realize how small, compact and lightweight it was until I tried it. So, I am happy with this laptop. I just want to find a way to manage the accessories a little better.

To narrow it down, primarily, I want to somehow manage these three accessories: dongle port, charger and external HD. See the photo below, I made it close to real scale. Shows how small the computer really is.

You have 2 external SSDs? Do you always need them plugged in? Maybe just leave the unused items in your laptop bag? When do you need these on a plane?

Only one is plugged into the dongle, normally. Second one may be needed for simultaneous backup sometimes.

I wasn't really kidding about the rubber bands. Or use a few velcro straps. Can you get a usb-c hub, and only have one thing to plug in? Strap them all together, or throw them in a little sack with only the one cable coming out?

Yeah, I got it. It's an option.

Cover the back of the screen in two-sided tape, stick your accessories to it.

Something like this, and you could hang it from the seat in front and run a cable to the accessory needed:

Try finding a 3 ring binder pouch with pockets for your accessories. You could even put your laptop and the flat binder pouch in the same laptop bag for ease of transport.
