Usually the info will be on the site ahead of time, prices and on sale date. Then you can decide if you want to spend the money or not. This way everyone gets online and has to decide in the moment. I was pretty confused with the Metallica tickets, too many presales and different price tiers.

It’s dynamic pricing. Ticketmaster sets the price of tickets based on instantaneous demand for the tickets

Oh hell, I thought their dynamic pricing scam was an adjustment they did after the on sale date.
It's worse than I thought.

Yeah, what a slimy trick. So basically everyone, including thousands who wouldn't have entered the sale release if they knew tickets were so high, will be on, which will inflate the prices even more.

My verdict after Thursday night's show is it was worth the price we paid. It was my first time seeing Springsteen and it's certainly in my top three shows ever. Great sound, a solid nearly three hour show with no nonsense (the break before the encore was maybe 2 mins, they didn't even leave the stage), Bruce's voice and playing were amazing. The band is super tight and the setlist had a good span of his career.
I signed up for the Calgary pre-sale, if we can get a price we like I'd happily go again.

That’s the point though, if the supply could satisfy demand at a lower price then the price would be lower so the people who won’t buy at X price are what set the price. In a world where you don’t control who buys tickets this just transfers money from the resellers who do this process to the artist / ticketmaster.
One thing to keep in mind is that we shouldn’t hate Ticketmaster for this. We should hate the artists. The artists could sell non-transferable tickets with ID required at the door of at least one or even all the people going. They choose not to because the scalping business is good for them. So the blame needs to be in the right place.

It's after the fact, but was anyone else at the Yamato show last night at the Jack Singer? WOW!

Well, I made the cut to get a sniff of tickets for the boss.
The dynamic pricing is hilarious though. They know damn well the demand will be off the charts

Springsteen ticket info on ticketmaster.ca:
"The Next Sale Will Begin on Thu, Feb 23 @ 10:00 am MST"
Next sale? What are they talking about?

I think they just phrased it strangely. As far as I can tell, there are no presales, VIP tickets etc. Same on sale time for everyone that gets selected in the draw.

We had neither account (wife and I) selected for Calgary tickets, whereas we both got drawn for Austin. Who knows?

I got waitlisted. I was kind of ambivalent. Maybe they can sense that?

I was selected. Of course, I'll be traveling in the U.S. at the time the tickets go on sale. Gonna have to get creative.

Vancouver and Winnipeg go on sale this morning, so that will give us some indication I guess. Either way, it is clear there will be no posted prices until the sale starts. That is some serious BS- if it was anyone else, I would be out.
EDIT- this is just from a quick glance on some online chatter, but seems like the prices for Ottawa and Winnipeg shows were 100-200 for nosebleeds, 200-300 for 2nd bowl, and 300-500 for lower bowl. All varies of course, as in a concert set up, some 2nd bowl seats will still be better and closer than lower bowl seats on the far side. $500 or so for floor. Of course the pricing keeps going up as dynamic pricing kicks in.

Ah okay then I'm glad I skipped out on trying, those aren't anywhere close to my budget right now. I mean I could afford nosebleeds at 160, but I've retired from going to concerts in crappy seats.
Good seats or bust now and I can't afford $300-$600 a ticket as all the biggest artists charge now. **** that.
