Every draft pick today from the Flames can at least put the puck in the net, I like it!

Small, skilled Russian playing in the CHL.

Hopefully he sticks it out in NA and doesn't run back home like Kharnakhov.

I like this pick. The Flames have had great luck drafting and developing these types of players.

Nice to see the values got some value for where he was picked.

10 pts in 5 GP at Hlinka Memorial
(led tourney in scoring; next closest Russian player had 6 pts)

Report via @FCHockey (ranked 86th:

"An exciting winger. He possesses high-end vision and he can anticipate sequences in all three zones. He’s very slick in possession. Even with all that dynamic ability, he still manages to play well in his own zone. An effective two- way game."

ISS Hockey had him 90th:
"crafty, undersized forward with good speed, agility, and hands"
"finished strong with 11 G & 7 A in Feb, March"
- more playmaker than goal-scorer
- willing to battle
- creative
- played PK as well as PP
- "shows good smarts"
- "gains offensive blueline well"

FWIW Dmitri Zavgorodny was also ISS Hockey 's 2nd ranked "Best Little Guy" behind dman Ty Smith in their "Best & Worst" section of their NHL draft guide.
One of my favs Jonaton Beggren was #3, Jake Wise @ #4 & Cam Hillis @ #5.

Looks like a hard accurate shot. Needs to work on quicker release and skating but has good vision too.
