As much as it important to move Hamilton out and get on with a realistic rebuild it will be hard to make a trade. The value of the players on a team from the bottom 3rd of the NHL that was a cap team will be undervalued.
When other teams look at the Flames they think they are picking over the bones and figure that anyone they get from the Flames will be a reclamation project.
Flames will not be able to win a trade in the current situation.
They will not get a UFA unless they outbid for them and the UFA does not have realistic options in a better situation.
Much better to stand pat and see if it was all coaches fault.
