I'm pleasantly surprised that Hartley is sitting a vet like Galliardi. He's been invisible for a long long time now.

I like Hartley's comments and I really don't see the favouritism some people claim he has towards veterans. I'll go with the Flames playing their best of the season, shutting the Panthers out 5-0.

Against a team like the Panthers who the Flames have absolutely no rivalry with, I'd rather see McGrattan sitting. A Galiardi - Backlund - B. Jones line allows the team to roll four lines evenly. It also gives Backlund a half decent line to play on.

Then again, if this is the beginning of actual accountability throughout the lineup I shouldn't complain.

#Flames coach Hartley said Galiardi will be a healthy scratch. Galiardi wouldn't talk to the media.

I hope he is Peed right off and fuming. Light a fire under his arse and get his energy and effort back to where it was the first five games of the season.

Makes me wonder now if Glencross if for not getting injured would suffer the same treatment. As I found Glencross just as half arsed the last while before he got injured.

Glencross is in a completely different stratosphere than Galiardi. And even when Glencross is bad he pots the occasional goal, which is more than I can say about TJ.

Galiardi won't talk to the media after being a healthy scratch.

What a baby.

Not the Professional way to handle things.

I am surprised this didn't happen earlier. 1 Goal in 22 Games.

Wait how many NHL games played makes you a vet? I mean is a 25 year old with 232 NHL games a vet? Then would not a 24 year old with 208 games also be a vet?

So Hartley has now sat Galiardi, Backlund, Jackman and O'Brien. That sure looks to me as four vets.

That doesn't fit in with the anti-Hartley agenda, please revise.

Galiardi really got by the first month and a half on him being Calgarian and his affinity for the city. Glad to see that Hartley is putting that aside and making him accountable for his lousy play and lack of production

Thing is, if Hartley were to bench everyone who was playing bad we would only have half a lineup. I want to see more guys sit and if they don't change their ways either trade them or demote them. Some guys are going to have learn the hard way. As for younger players, I think he needs to be more patient with them.

I do like benching Galiardi though

Jones looked really good before the injury, I don't know what happened but he looks really soft out there. I hope he can figure it out again.

That seems like a pretty dumb reason to hang onto a player.

Flames are sitting at $35mil for next season, with 12 spots to fill. If the projected cap floor is around $47mil, they won't have any problem hitting the floor with Jones salary of the books.

So the Flames can leverage cap space to take on bad contracts and acquire assets in the process, or dump Jones and do what? Overpay a UFA to play on a rebuilding team? No thanks.

No sense in worrying about D. Jones for the remainder of his contract. He's a roster plug until his contract is expiring.

I like B. Jones insertion into the lineup. Good option to have as a winger when you want a back-up faceoff guy out there. Hopefully he brings the compete level we're used to.

And, for the Hartley Hates B. Jones camp:

"Blair changed a lot from last year ... Right from training camp, we saw that his fitness was so much better. His attitude was better. His game was better." - Bob Hartley on Blair Jones, who jumps into the lineup tonight
