I'd take Lindholm because he has a little bit more skill in his game, but Monahan is pretty much a guaranteed good 2nd line center at worst.
I would not be disappointed if we took one of those guys at all.

Carolina could use defensive help.

Does Carolina really take a center? Staals, Rask in the pipeline, Skinner's original position. Their fans don't think they're going center, and I hope they're right.

Someone should ask Pat Seiloff who was harder to defend. Pretty sure he's played against both.

It is quite possible that the Canes do decide to go with a d man with their pick. Especially if they buy into Nurse.

Lingholm also plays RW. I don't think they would take Monahan. Not sure they would reach for a defencemen at 5th spot. Could see them trading down to get a d-man.

Monorail. Supposed to be a faceoff whizard, and high hockey IQ.

I'd be surprised if Carolina takes another center as well, Nurse at 5 or trading down a few spots wouldn't shock me.

I think they take Lindholm and convert him to right wing.
Monahan shoots left, and left wingers are a lot more common than right wingers.

Or bite the bullet and trade with EDM for their pick and get them both! Move Lindholm to RW until he matures and then unleash all heck when Jankowski ambles in.

Just the rumours that the Hurricanes hate picking defencemen... I see them taking either Lindholm, Nichushkin, or trading down.

Also keep in mind that the Canes will probably also be looking for a guy that could potentially play for them next season.
They are in win now mode, and this is the same GM that traded Jack Johnson when he refused to leave college when they were gearing up for their cup run.
So if Lindholm tells them flat out he plans on staying in Sweden for 1 or 2 years that may lower him in their rankings.

Well yes i guess if you take an NHL comparable literally.

Yeah ... Carolina in that 5 slot worries me, I'd like us to move up to it if we can do it cheaply.

I don't see flipping 5 and 6 costing that much.

I was just checking out the young prospects and noticed that Jankowski is only 2 weeks older than Monahan and 2.5 months older than Lindholm. So either one could be good and they would be coming into their own at the same time as Jankowski. Seems that guys with later birthdays stand out in their draft years (Seth Jones is a late 94 also).
Just found this interesting, not trying to compare anyones ability.

I'd be satisfied with either, but in the end, I always lean towards the guy with more offensive skill, even if Monahan has more character. Swedes always seem to have a lot of good character too. I mean you never really see a lot of Swedes with controversial comments or huge egos... they are almost boringly reliable.
I'd be satisfied with any of these guys. The only real way that pick would be a huge disappointment is if they draft Nichuskin.

Lindholm plays a much more physical game than Backstrom though. He's not going to be as good defensively as Monahan, but from what I've seen he's pretty tenacious on both ends of the ice.
