Monahan, no doubt. The 67's were terrible this season, he managed 78 points in 58 games. He got 78 points in 62 games last season too. You know who else is a good defensive centerman? Pavel Datsyuk.

Aside from what I've read from TSN, HF etc...I don't know much about either player, but for some reason, I strongly favor Lindholm.
I definitely wouldn't be upset to pick up Monahan though.
Unless something shocking happens at the draft, I think we're going to be walking away with an excellent, but not franchise, player

Monahan.
Just feel like there is something about him. Would have gone higher in other drafts.
Lindholm is a bit of a wild card for me to be honest.

It's going to come down to Flames scouting staff and their preference and quite frankly I'm more worried that they go a little off the board more than which of these two they would take. I have a feeling that they really want one of the top four players and may try to trade hard to move up.
If they stay and if they are sane I would maybe go with Lindholm but I wouldn't be disappointed if they went with Monahan.

It should be noted that Lindholm is not a bad defensive player... in fact, he's quite physical and isn't afraid to get dirty.
Just not quite at Monahan's level.

I fully admit that outside of MacKinnon, who we won't get, I don't know enough about any of the centres to speak intelligently about this. I just hope our scouting department has done their homework and takes the best player available.

Don't really see who he's compared to matters. Lindholm's also compared to Forsberg, so by your thinking then it should be Lindholm based on Forsberg> Toews.

I often have wondered how much the the 2 Halifax kids numbers are inflated by playing with each other in a no defence league. I'd be a lot more comfortable picking an OHL star with some good size like Monahan, all in all.

So?
Jay McClement is a good defensive centerman too.
I like both players but feel Lindholm has more potential to be an impact player and has the higher ceiling.

I like both. Don't really have a strong preference at the moment. Might change with some more reading later on but I think both would be tremendous picks.

There can only be two. If neither of these players are picked, I will burn this city down. Even if they're not picked by the Flames because they are no longer available when we pick, or because MacKinnon slips down to sixth because of some ill advised anti semitic remarks.

Yep. Lindholm has a lot of grit in his game, which is what Feaster wants this offseason. He's pretty strong too along the boards and he plays extremely hard in the defensive zone.
Lindholm has a higher offensive potential than Monahan and his defensive game is probably not on the level of Monahan, but it's definitely solid.

Monahan. 6'2 Centre that can win draws and play in all three zones.
Has size and grit (something we sorely lack on our NHL team and within our prospect pool).
Strong hockey IQ (which our team covets), leader, plays physical.
And to top it off hes Canadian. Monahan for sure.

My guess is that Carolina takes one of these two players, so our choice will be made for us.
My preference is Lindholm. He plays like a star.

I haven't seen a lot from either, just based on what I have read, I would have to say Lindholm, although Monahan looks closer to being NHL ready.

thanks
i would go with Lindholm then.... with my uneducated, a few youtubes and just passive reading.... also Euro names always sound cooler anyways.
