A third tier football league and a sport that has no following outside of 10 provinces and a handful of states?

When are renewals mailed?
Because of my extreme dislike for GG's coaching style, I find this topic very interesting, even though I'm not an STH.

MLS will never come to Calgary.

Don't think baseball will ever return to Calgary. Seems to be thriving in Okotoks though. But no, that's not what I was referring to.

Much smaller. 10000 would be on the high end. I don't know the size though.

Check out the "Canadian Premier League" thread. Everything I know is in there. The date I've been told isn't official, but I can guarantee it will be announced long before the next Flames preseason camp kicks off.

If you like watching guys die of CTE in their 40's while getting paid peanuts, that's your decision. I will take players flopping over that any day. Plus, diving and whining is very much alive and well in the NHL.
I do enjoy lacrosse though.

we are renewing, but going to games are just getting so expensive these days. And a new arena would accelerate that exponentially. We'll probably keep our tickets until a new arena is built.

Bad time? Lol. Honestly it was a pleasure to meet you and I'm still on the fence to renew or not. Just waiting for the pitch which I can't imagine:
1) The arena, the arena.... (this group has forgot to put fans first).
2) The rebuild is currently still under rebuild? It's an exciting time to be a Flames fans.
3) We screwed all the beer vendors by making the prices they lost out on all their tips.
4) Gulutzan and the system and process is how we will abide.
I'd think the only thing they could announce is that they are fixing the washroom situation and get rid of those dodge trucks. But, sigh, we'll just hear more about the arena and probably moving the team.

It's really interesting to me that the people who seem happiest with their choice in this thread are those who have already cancelled...
Personally, it will depend on pricing. If they decide to do another increase with the economy still weak and after that tire fire of a season I will pull the plug.

I had a share of season tickets for the past few years. I went to one game this year, sold the rest of my tickets and I won’t be picking up the share again.

Looking like the cheap coaching hire may actually prove to have been very expensive.

Hopefully it sends a message to the Owners about how unhappy fans are with the team and that some changes need to be made.

Reckoning? In what way?
This could be exact motivation the owners need to finally cash out and move on. No arena deal in sight. Fair weather fans bailing on the team. Timing would seem to be optimal to make plans to back away from this dumpster fire and take the money and run. Those declining revenues and lack of a building allowing the team to remain fiscally competitive seem to give the owners the out they want, and the support with the other owners that Calgary isn't capable of supporting a team. Add in a successful expansion team taking the league by storm, and another expansion franchise on the horizon, they could easily take the expansion money and then sell the team to the highest bidder and watch the team head south. Seems very plausible. Careful what you wish for.

I gave up my game pack last summer, after nine years. Hemmed and hawed about it, ultimately made the decision based on the price. The arena handling by the Flames and King specifically made me not regret the decision. I may be ready to give the team money again down the road but not without a clear change in tone and direction.

I think the point is that these are die hard fans contemplating bailing on being STH, not fairweather fans.

I'll keep them. Great value seats in a good spot that took us years to get moved into. Plus I love going with my kids.

I have never owned seasons but was considering it this year getting a share with a buddy. But unless GG goes and the owners actually pony up for a decent coach who will move this team beyond the 6th - 11th place in the west franchise it’s been for the vast majority of my life I’m not really thinking it’s a worthwhile investment
