Not to mention there are at least two more movies currently in the works. They're already in pre-production on the follow-up to Star Trek Beyond, and Tarantino's rumored ST movie is in the script writing phase at Paramount. I'm excited for pretty much all of it.

Halston Sage was not on the Comic Con panel.

IMDB had her in all episodes but that could just be a "in the credits" thing.

I think the thought is that she'll come back if there's a season three. I hope she stays on, I really liked the character and the portrayal.

IMDB isn't reliable for casting information on tv episodes that haven't aired yet.

Looks like the production values are even better. And they seem to be de-emphasizing the comedy. Are the producers seeing blood in the water with Discovery?

I love that the main plot of the episode was about a guy taking a piss.

I call this show "Star Trek, but fun."

I found it strange that they got Jason Alexander to agree to do a cameo like that where he was buried under full makeup, but I guess he's just a big fan of the show.

Mick Fleetwood once had a cameo on the Next Gen as a completely unrecognizable alien with absolutely no dialogue.

The show just works for me, even an episode where there were no alien invaders or Krill or emergencies and they made a great joke about that at the very beginning of the episode in the bar.

I liked that they gave Halston Sage a very meaty role in this episode, everytime they've done something with her they've knocked it out of the park

Spoiler!

I loved that the whole episode was really leading up to Bortas taking a piss. But they pretty much left it in the background.

Isaac is awesome with his ideas of parenting and there's this really weird dynamic going on with the Doctor and Isaac, which is a possibly making fun of an episode of TNG where Data plowed Tasha.

They really upped the effects in that first episode as some of the shots of the Orville were gorgeous. I did miss seeing the stair case though.

One review of the episode put it brilliantly, and I agree.

The Orville works because they think outside of the box and did a episode that could literally be called an anti-premiere. Instead of an action packed episode that put the crew in jeopardy or introduced a big bad, they did a premiere that was all about furthering character development and had nothing to do with space travel or exploration. But at the same time I didn't care, I was completely drawn in by the character development.

Scott Grimes continues to be so strong in this show and he has amazing timing. Seth was great as he embraced a combination of the lonely love lorn Captain and the creepy stalker. Claire as the frustrated mother.

Even Kitan's brutal criticism of the poem was just a strong moment.

By the way I love that level 10 is "she's still married to the dude and she has a gun"

Next episode is on Thursday and features a guest appearance by Roberto Picard who plays Kitan's father.
