Haven't read this thread- just looking for a quick opinion.

I've seen the odd Marvel movie, but am far from a diehard fan. I think the only Avengers movie I saw was the very first one and I don't really remember it.

They hype has gotten to me and I want to give the series a chance, but the whole thing just seems so intimidating to me. Where do I start watching? What are the must see flicks? What should I be skipping? Any MCU experts out there, thanks in advance!

Core movies in viewing order:

Iron Man 1
Thor 1
Captain America 1
Avengers 1
Captain America: Winter Soldier
Guardians of the Galaxy
Avengers 2
Ant-Man
Captain America: Civil War
Doctor Strange
Thor Ragnarok
Avengers: Infinity War
Endgame

That's leaving out some excellent movies like Spiderman: Homecoming and Black Panther, but if you just want to be able to follow the major plot points of IW and Endgame then I think that list is good

Don't want to give too much away but there are a couple more that tie right into this movie now and should probably be added to that list.

Time travel was mapped out pretty well in this.

The past is set.
The present is set.
You can take from the past to effect the future, but if you don't restore the past you create an alternate timeline.

So in this story, the timeline is completely restored, and the past was always this past.

With one exception in the tessaract scene.

I wonder if any of the bigger names will ever guest star on these shows? Like will Hemsworth make any appearances on Loki's show?

Saw it yesterday. It was just a great ending to the Thanos saga and it sets up the future of the MCU very well.
Spoiler!

Gonna definitely see it again to see if I missed anything I didn't catch on the first watch.

What a fantastic payoff. Arguably not as good a movie as Infinity War but just a wildly entertaining 3 hours and the references to the previous movies were fantastic.

Lots of applause for Stan’s cameo in my theatre.

Though I think having spoiler tags in a spoiler thread is kinda silly I guess I'll continue...
When do we stop using them? After opening night seems fair.

Spoiler!

Amazing end to the saga, so many great payoffs. I thought the character focus was outstanding, left me wanting more for more of the characters, but you can't have a 10 hour movie.

Amazing what they achieved over so many years with so much planning, I don't know if we'll ever see anything like it again. The only way to top it would be to have years worth of one movie every month to be able to build like a book can.

Personally I say we can stop using spoiler tags on Monday - once opening weekend is over we should be pretty safe and you are putting yourself at risk if you start looking around and still haven’t seen it once the weekend is over.

I was honestly bored out of my mind in the theatre. I hated it and this is from someone who watched infinity war at least 10 times through. Kept waiting for something to actually happen.

The title has spoilers in it, we don't need to use tags here.

Incredible. Absolutely incredible.

There is so much to go through.. Tony's face as he snaps the gauntlet, the "I am IronMan" comment to close out the infinity stones saga, the line that started it all back in the day was just perfect. The post credits lack of scene was also to me just such a fitting touch and worth waiting for. The finality of it. This is it, no scene, just the sound of Tony Stark hammering away in some cave, where it all began.

Lebowski Thor might have been the best part of the movie, lol, but there were so many parts. There was a girl behind me who went to the washroom and came back after fat Thor had been found and she goes "Oh my god that's not Thor is it??" she was so mad he wasn't all hot with his shirt off, that almost made the movie for me to. I can totally see Hemsworth being like WE HAVE TO DO THIS !!

Cap.. Cap.. I thought he would be the one to die and Stark would be doing cameos but retired moving forward. But it makes sense, Stark could never get out, he could never just sit back. When Cap gets Thor's hammer, oh man that was awesome. I did notice that he took it back in time at the end, but it didn't come back with him.

Edit: Ahh it makes sense to me now, Cap is returning the hammer to where it needs to be in time for Thor.

Just so much good.

A lot of interpretation on how to watch the movies but I'd put it a bit so around chronological (in terms of where the movie takes place) vs. movie release date:

1. Captain America: TFA
2. Captain Marvel
3. Iron Man
4. The Incredible Hulk
5. Iron Man 2
6. Thor
7. Avengers
8. Iron Man 3
9. Captain America: TWS
10. Thor: Dark World
11. Guardians of the Galaxy
12. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
13. Avengers: Age of Ultron
14. Ant-Man
15. Captain America: Civil War
16. Spider-Man: Homecoming
17. Doctor Strange
18. Black Panther
19. Thor: Ragnarok
20. Ant-Man & The Wasp
21. Avengers: Infinity War
22. Avengers: Endgame

I found the first half to be quite slow and haphazard. The scene with the initial Thanos death was definitely unexpected with how quickly it happened. The movie did pick up in the second half and was well worth watching the whole saga for. It could have been half hour shorter, IMO, and been just as impactful. I wish theatres would start having intermissions in longer movies
