Last night's episode of "Barry" was great, especially the ending. This played over the credits.

I try to explain to my friends here that Bohemian Rhapsody was not that groundbreaking in the UK, it was a logical extension of the Glam Rock scene in the UK, Sparks hit the charts in the UK the year before Queen, I still don't think Killer Queen or Rhapsody would have happened without this hit

Yeah, Sparks were/are definitely innovative. What's the deal with the audience in that video? You'd think on a show called "Disco" they'd be dancing instead of sitting with blank stares.

They just came out of nowhere, the brothers were from California and the weird Hitler look was really shocking in the early 70's, a vast amount of the population remembered the war then, served even.

I think I've listened to this about 20 times in the last few days.
Fantastic.

Arrrrghh! This is endemic in TV performances by rock / pop stars in that era because the producers were only concerned about capturing the artist's performance instead of the concert experience. Hence, studio audiences were told to sit down, shut up and don't distract from the performance. This is Deep Purple MkII doing Child In Time. Gillan and the band rip the roof off the joint and the crowd looks like they've all been tazed into submission, or they've taken waaay too many 'ludes. Blame producers that didn't get the live concert milieu.

This is what happens when the children of tiger moms become dope musicians.

"Do The Collapse" is an underrated Guided By Voices album. It was critically panned when it came out but it has some really good songs on it.

It's been a while since Richard Buckner put out a new album. He's been consistently great and his most recent albums are as strong as the early stuff that made him known as a great singer/songwriter. Hopefully he'll release something in the near future, but in the meantime I'm enjoying his wonderful discography.

I recently listened to every Dropkick Murphy's album due to being on a long road trip with my wife and them being one of only a few bands we both like. So here is my definitive ranking of all 9 DKM albums:

1. The Gang's All Here
2. Sing Loud, Sing Proud!
3. The Warrior's Code
4. 11 Short Stories of Pain and Glory
5. Blackout
6. The Meanest of Times
7. Do or Die
8. Signed and Sealed in Blood
9. Going Out in Style

About 15 or 20 years ago, I used to see Buckner play live all the time because he lived in Edmonton at the time. I've always wondered what made him move to Edmonton and what caused him to move away a few years later. Seems like such a random place for an American musician to move to. Anyone know?

Those Buckner albums from the 90s (Bloomed, Devotion + Doubt, Since) are gold.

He was married to a woman from there. I have a friend who made the same mistake.

I'm probably a few years late to this party, but I've really been getting into Ghost a lot lately. Something about the guitar sound just grabs me, it's heavy yet clean. I love it
