Not much on the left side for the Wranglers going into next season. Guys on AHL contracts like Brett Sutter, Mitch McLain and Alex Gallant right now.

Already given up on Coronato after one practice so they went out and signed another young player.

I thought he stood out in his limited ice time in the WJC. He’s big, and fast. Sign me up!

No...but I'm not sure what nerds u speak of. A lot of scouting reports were of mediocre gains in hos skills.

I know Sutter only signed a 1 year deal. He’s still a viable AHL player but he’s 35 and how many more years does he want to do that?

Projections at this stage for players who are not in the Bedard tier or a tier below have always been silly to me. The development of these kids are so dynamic, nobody ever really knows. It's all about having as many bullets as you can have.

They probably think he has more to offer and all the tools and want to get him developing over here under their coaching and guidance.

I think that the idea is get some more prospects coming onstream to replace those aging out.

I like Martin Pospisil, but with progress stalled by injuries, do they bring him back?

I really like this kid, going back to seeing him play in the U-18's. Very good skater with size, and a nice 200-ft game. He was drafted in 2021, but he's still only 19 years old!

This year, in the top men's league in Sweden, he put up 8 points in 45 games for a team (Brynas) that finished in the bottom-2, and was just relegated. Sounds paltry, but that's 7th for U-20 players, 20th in pts/gp. His ice-time was all over the place, from 7:07, up to 17:29.

In his draft year, he was with the MODO organization, and put up 18 pts in 14 games (3rd in the J20 League for draft-eligibles, ahead of guys like Rosen, Dower-Nilsson, Ostlund, Lysell, and Forsell), and even had time in the Hockeyettan (Sweden's ECHL, with 12 pts in 11 games, where he was 3rd for draft-eligibles, 1st in pts/gp). Since his draft year, he's been with Rogle (J20 mostly) ,and Brynas (mostly SHL).

We've made some good picks the last few drafts but this was not one of them. He's going to need to breakout in a big and unexpected way. Otherwise it's a wasted pick.

Nothing against the kid personally. Hope he does well.

How to kick somebody in the balls, whilst trying not too look like the guy that kicked someone in the balls.

Nothing like writing off someones hockey career at 19 years of age.

Swedens top league is notorious for stapling their youth to the bench to hand out water bottles, you can throw the stats out the window from the SweHL.

As many know here I have a relative that's a scout who spends 3 months a year overseas and he loves this kid, great skater, great shot and not afraid of the dirty areas of the ice, he told me after the flames took him "if this kid works on packing on the upper body muscle to match his legs he'll be a beast"

I don't get why some people are already writing him off. His SHL stats don't mean a whole lot, as the Swedish league rarely gives young players a ton of quality ice time to work with unless you're a real bluechip prospect. Having already played 51 SHL games in his career at 19 years old is a good thing ... giving up on him because he didn't score more in a very limited role makes zero sense. Let's see how the kid adapts to the North American game.

It's not like the Flames reached on the pick as he was by all accounts a 2nd round talent. He has lot of raw talent and it's up to the Flames to develop him into a pro and given his age it's way too early to draw any conclusions that he was a bad pick.

What is there to be baffled by?

He's big.
He can skate.
Just played in the WJC

And they signed him to a three year deal because they think they see something there to work with.

Very low risk, potentially high reward.
