Bit of a downer (UAlberta alumni here) but both teams look solid. Finals came down to a third game. All three were one goal games and the first two went to OT. Hoping the national championship comes back to Canada West, preferably with the Golden Bears for a nation leading 17th time. I'd settle for the Dinos though, my kids are alumni/students there so a bit of family pride as well.

Has the UofC ever won the national title in men's hockey?

Nope, they have never been crowned national champs.

University hockey is sneaky good. Wranglers probably hurt their attendance.
I'd much rather watch the Dinos over the Hitmen.

It's really changed since the CHL instituted scholarships for players. Most teams are loaded with ex-CHL players now rather than kids coming out of high school. Not only are they good but they are older (and stronger) so the level of hockey is exceptional.

University hockey is the best-kept secret in the country.

Good to see a full barn on Sunday for the last game.

100% agree.
When I first starting working games back in Ontario, the OUA was still wearing full cages. It was literally like lacrosse the stickwork was so bad. Lakehead used to have a Christmas tournament where they invited teams from AUS/Canada West to come play. You had teams with half-visors playing teams with full cages. Needless to say the teams with the half-visors spent a lot of time bleeding and on the powerplay.

For those wondering, the national championships are being held in Charlottetown, PEI starting March 16th.

Alberta ranked 5 won its game this morning versus number 4. I’m reading that the Golden Bears play the winner of the Dinos’ game tonight.
How are the matches determined in the final four? Wouldn’t it be top remaining seed against lowest? If so, how they know Alberta will play Calgary regardless of seeding?
Edit: I see it’s a bracket tourney, so no reseeding.

Go Bears!
Bummer that they potentially face the Dinos in the semis, it would have been great to have the two teams play in the finals.
On the women's side MRU upset #1 Toronto yesterday. They play Montreal in the semi's tomorrow.

The Bears lost two of their top six forwards - one with a concussion. I don’t see them being able to play next game.

Fixed, there is a lot of good sport being played at University level in Canada. Sadly much of it goes unseen.

Not a great opening period for the Dinoa. UPEI looks much faster and are winning all the races to the puck.
