Strange. That game could mean nothing for the Lions.

Schedulers just did the Packers a huge favor. They could be playing for their playoff lives vs an already-eliminated & nonchalant Lions team. Not that I'm calling shenanigans but.... man.

New England also has been potentially given a huge break. Bengals win tonight, Chiefs win Saturday and the NE-BUF game is close to meaningless for Buffalo. They'd need the Bengals to lose to get the #2 seed, but Baltimore would have nothing to play for against Cincy except seeding, the division would be over, and no way would they risk Lamar just for that. NFL should just do what the Premier League does and have every game start at the same time in week 18. But TV wins, which is why the Packers got SNF.
If anyone should feel like a conspiracy will be on, it's Seahawks fans. Ensuring the Seahawks lose makes SNF fully matter. I know there will be a lot of arguments about Lions/Packers as a divisional game, Campbell won't let them take it easy etc..but human nature is human nature, so for the Lions going from at 4:25 EST potentially playing a win and in game, to actually playing a meaningless game by 7:25 EST, it would be hard to not expect a let down.

Its all about eyeballs and the ability to charge $$ in primetime.
Only 3 teams draw more watchers than Green Bay, and when you add its a do or die game for them, they can maximize revenue in that time slot as both those that follow and those that hate them will be tuning in regardless of what it means to the Lions.
Always follow the $$ when it comes to these decisions.

It's shenanigans. Both games should be played at the same time.

If the intention of the games is to play them simultaneously for both TV drama and more important, teams that are still in it to not know where they sit in relation to the other game, then it's a massive fail and disrespects the Lions and Seahawks.

This hurts the seahawks the most. If they win, the Lions have nothing to play for. It absolutely should be at the same time, or before the seahawks.

They should both be in the 4:25 slot.
If it was simply DET vs GB win and you are in, 100% flex that game. Having Seattle in the mix screws that up.

The NFL is all about numbers and money I don't think they care about any ethics or fairness.
Watson's first game back was vs the Texans. He shouldn't even be in the league.

I would entertain the $$ argument if it was any of the other leagues. This is the NFL, you could put Bears and Texans in the primetime slot and charge what you want to.
Either way, doesn't matter now. If there was ever a time for some kneecaps for dinner, I hope its next Sunday. Let's bite some kneecaps Lions (go Seahawks).

My preference is slightly different, but same overall
Lions > Seahawks
Lions/Seahawks>>>>>>>>>>Packers

There is only one team that doesnt require help to "win and get in"
Thats why that game is in primetime. They do this every year the last week...get the game that will draw the most eye balls. Again....$$ drive all decisions.
And no....there is no way you would get the same viewership numbers if you have 2 teams out of the playoff race and charge the same for ad space, that's patently absurd.
Either way, i hope like hell the Rams beat the Hawks (even if unlikely) because that atmosphere will be unreal.

Isn't JAX/TEN win and get in without help?
That's the game that should be flexed IMO.

Titans-Jags is the only guaranteed game where both teams have a playoff chance on the line, but there was never gonna be a world where the NFL was gonna choose that over the Packers. Maybe if Tennessee weren't awful to watch, but even if they had Tannehill it's hard to imagine passing on the Packers.

I would think a Dan Campbell coached team won’t just roll over if Lions can’t make the playoffs

While I agree I don't expect the Lions to lay down, it's just impossible to believe it won't be different mentally if it's meaningless for them. Even if it's only an intensity difference of 97% intensity versus 100%, that alone can be the difference between a win and a loss. In a meaningful game guys might put it all on the line, in a nothing game guys might make more "business decisions". It's definitely favoritism by the NFL, and not at all fair, but also not unexpected.
