Default 2020 Bundesliga/Bundesliga 2 Re-Start Thread

Herzliche Grüße mein fellow Calgarypuckers! Welcome to the risky world of starting up sports again! This thread is for all fans and casual observers who are interested. I will include the second division as the team I support, Hamburger SV, is hopefully about to move back up where we belong.

If you are a neutral, here is a handy chart to choose a side. A good comparison for my team would be the Ballard era Toronto Maple Leafs, post Lanny & Sittler years.

My contributions to this thread will be Hamburger SV specific. Feel free to contribute news, information, rumours, speculation, etc. Hopefully the league doesn't need to be shut down right away.

Games this weekend:

Here is the current table:

Here is the Bundesliga 2 table. If Hamburg finishes first or second, they automatically move up. If they finish in third, they play a two game home/away playoff against the 16th place team from the first division.

Hamburg's remaining opponents:

NUR DER HSV! (Only the HSV!)

love the flow chart, we've got some Bayern fans in the house, my buddy though is a Freiburg season ticket holder so I like to root for them- all sounds about right

I guess I'm picking Wolfsburg, based solely on the chart above and my car has a Wolsfsburg logo, so I feel like I've got swag. I can't name a player on the team, but some sports is better than no sports!

I often wondered why Eintracht does not do better. Frankfurt is one of the richest cities in Europe.

Can’t wait to watch Phonzie terrorize opponents wings again.

Bayern do have some injuries in midfield, shocking I know. Have to think Tolisso’s time at Bayern might be up as the guy just can’t stay healthy

I’m looking forward to seeing some of the quarantine haircuts these guys have!

Werder Bremen look doomed after a catastrophic season. And might lose their best player Rashica for practically nothing. Hopefully HSV screws things up and we can get a 2. Bundesliga Nordderby. Or better yet a playoff between the two.

The turnaround hopefully starts Monday against the pill poppers.

For Bundesliga 2 games, I have needed to make use of a shady streaming site (HesGoal.com - I will remove if mods require) but if there is no other way for a Canadian to be able to watch, then I don't feel like I am doing anything wrong.

Pretty excited for the weekend and football finally being on. I hope they keep safe though, and it doesn’t end up looking like a hasty/bad decision in hindsight.

Some of the side discussions taking place. Looks like teams will be able to make up to 5 substitutions as opposed to the normal 3.

Coronavirus: Are Bundesliga players at higher risk of injury on return?

Doesn't having more people playing increase the likelihood of exposure?

The substations are usually on the bench in any case available.

Are they expanding the bench numbers as well?

They're going to be the only game in town. The only game in the World. Quite literally.
