Another game ruined by VAR. It’s added a king of a wait for the flag or flag is down element to soccer. They managed to turn an exciting 2-1 game into a 65 minute game and borefest.

Phil Neville did not even celebrate the goal because he was waiting for the VAR.

Haha. “May have hit her hand”? I mean it just didn’t hit her hand. They went though it (5 minutes after the fact for some reason) and that never happened.

They both went for the ball and that’s it. It absolutely should be a goal.

Still think it was the correct call for the challenge on the keeper, you can’t go flying through a player like that, she was late and the correct call made

Well the commentators thought there was no VAR to begin with, so who knows.

But we’ll just have to agree to disagree. To me the ball is in the air and it’s fair game for both players. They came together and it came off her shoulder and into the net. I have no idea what the foul is/was but I haven’t got a dog in this fight. If anything, I would have thought a perfect use of VAR would have been to give a red to Renard for that egregious stomp. That was redder than Marta’s lipstick!

VAR still has its flaws but that’s three goals (Two Clear A’s day, one accurate by the word of the rule) where it overturned the wrong call by the linesman.

It’s the way to go, and it worked really well on that last goal. I felt like it worked a lot better last summer, but there’s no denying it’s implementation has been poor in this event. I’m not sure why it’s so different?

And as far as fixing the issues with VAR, some of that seems pretty obvious. A little concern for the fans and making things more as they’ve done with rugby seems like a no-brainer.

I hate how late offside flags get raised now. If they’re offside just raise the flag
