The Okotoks Dawgs are 3 PEAT champions of the WCBL. They beat the Medicine Hat Maverick's in the deciding game 3 of the Finals by a 11-5 score.

They also sent an attendance record with more than 150,000 fans attending Seaman Stadium this season.

I think it is important to post this into this thread with all the doom and gloom right now. There are some things that have restored my faith in humanity.

My in laws were told to evacuate from Yellowknife. They left. Had no where to stay when they got to High Level. Poster Minnie went out of her way to set them up with accommodations. They ended up not needing it but they greatly appreciated it. Along their travels they got free gas, offers of food and rest and strangers asking if they needed anything when they saw their Polar Bear licence plates. We have had people drop off treats for them today.

One of my WEF space laser arson believing friend is going to make a beef brisket for my in-laws this weekend. We 100% do not believe the same things but he is going out of his way to help make them feel welcome here and it is greatly appreciated. They just want to make sure they feel welcome in our community.

Every evacuee that I can see on our facebook is talking about the hospitality and love being shown by Alberta towards those being evacuated. They talk about free gas, free food, free accommodations.

My aunt is fostering 4 evacuated cats from Yellowknife until they can be reunited with their owners. She is doing it out of complete charity.

Alberta has some ####ed up politics but the one thing that holds true is that we are there for each other in a time of need. We need to remember this when we engage with someone with a different viewpoint.

My little pal started kindergarten today. He's so excited and I'm excited for him. I found one of those first/last day of school chalkboards, where they can write their name, which year of school its their first/last day of, the date of the first/last day of school, their height, age, what they want to be when they grow up, and what their current favorite things are. Just got texted the picture.

When he grows up, he wants to be cool. His favorite things to date, in order, are his family, cars, and minecraft. He doesn't have school tomorrow and my son & daughter in law both work tomorrow, so he's coming over tonight for a sleepover. Tomorrow, we're taking g him to Drumheller to the dinosaur museum and then out camping with us until Sunday. It's going to be a great weekend.

You know, we've had some sad and some scary moments of late, but it's still such a wonderful/good life, simple as it may be, and even in the middle of all that, it's all these kinds of moments that keep me/us reminded of that. Balance, I guess. It's definitely a happy day.

I’ll piggy back on Minnie’s post too…first day of kindergarten for our oldest today. She has been so excited for school for pretty much the past year, so it was a very special day for her. Sounds like she had a great day and is looking forward to Tuesday when she goes back again.

Also had laser eye surgery earlier this month and I am living life gloriously glasses free. I am a giant wuss when it comes to eye drops, but the procedure wasn’t too bad and recovery was only crappy for the first three days.

We finally have an accepted offer for a house in Sydney, it wasn't an easy negotiation but we got a fair price and a really nice part of town. And it's only a short walk to our in-laws house

Did you make sure it was Sydney NS and not Sydney BC?

Classic mistake!

Sometimes it’s the small things. My Autistic grandson started back to school today, SK, and I was low key worried all day. It’s a big change in routine, that can be challenging for him. My son texted me the note the teachers wrote in his daily update for today- “Odin adapted to being back to school beautifully , we missed him so much”.

What a relief that was.

i needed to add a few guys to my men's hockey team roster for this season. one of the things the league does is post a 'free agent' list - so people put their contact info down along with what position they play and what division they'd like to play in... so after reaching out to a few guys i was able to fill my roster.

tonight was our second game of the season and i had a chance to chat with a couple of the news guys before the game and it turns out they are big flames fans - so that's just awesome and makes me really happy!

they reeeeally like our dark jerseys...
Spoiler!

Big week for my son and it makes me super happy watching him tick off his goals for this year.

Made the U18 AAA Major hockey team as a first year player and was named to Team New Brunswick U16 Team got the news on both in the last 24hrs.

It's his QMJHL draft year and he has been working his ass off towards it. These are just the first steps but pretty big ones.

I can't wait to watch him this year

Start of new Beer League season.

Playing hockey with my daughter really makes me happy, even if she chirps me.

Nephew #1 got engaged over the weekend. Nephew #2 is recovering, slowly. Both things make me happy.
