At least they'll feel a little less bad now when the Flames draft Mckenna with their 1st.

Pretty much what he was going to get in Calgary. A little less I suppose.

Don’t blame him. I’d rather play in Vegas for 7.35 than Calgary for 7.50

Wow kind of surprised they had to pay him that much. Seems like an overpay for Vegas. Good on Hanafin for securing a deal... Lindholm should have done the same.

I'm a bit surprised he re-signed there in the end - but feels like the overpayment in Vegas was more attractive than the overpayment in Calgary.
Unlikely he gets that much from any of the rumored preferred destinations (Tampa, Florida, Boston), so might as well take the bag in the next best preferred destination.

Sounds about right. He is really young for a UFA, so they should get good value over those 8 years.

I'm sure the Flames would have gladly have him accept that offer. Takes him to age 35 and with his wheels he should still be useful and by then $7 million will be 4/5th defensemen money. Good deal for both parties as he's massively underrated by Flames fans and he's just starting to close in on his prime years.

I believe the deal with the Flames at the start of the year was 7.25Mx8 but Noah has gone on to have a very strong season with a career high in goals and 5pts away from a career high in points.
Good deal for Noah and it is always nice as a team if you give up a 1st rounder that you get a guy who will be around for the long haul.
I have little doubt had the Flames kept Johnny and Chucky that Hanifin would have stayed. Clearly going to the East US was not the top priority but he is in a great market with a great tax situation.

Good contract...
And the chance that you only have to play have a season if there are Cap issues...
LTIR is your friend...

That's right on the mark for Noah. Dude was definitely not the problem in CGY and he earned this deal. So long and thanks for all the fish Noah.

Sort of sucks that he's in division but realistically, being Vegas, he may only play half that contract there.
Also we'll get their 1st in 26 and who knows what that my be. Might haunt them for years.

If you are going to sign someone for 8 years, a 27 year old is the way to do it.
BTW, he's 6 months older than Miromanov.
