So....heres what I thought.
Overall I like the tone and pacing of the show and I really like the Spaghetti Western element to it with different scenarios in each episode.
But...I'm hoping this is starting to go somewhere. What is the Mandalorian's overall mission or goal? When is he going to start working towards that? What is the point of mini-Yoda? Why is he/she/it wanted? By whom? And for what?
Mini-Yoda's cute existence is beginning to wear thin.

I kind of agree with your point Locke, though I'm really enjoying the show. The fourth episode was a lot of fun to watch, and Gina is great.
But yeah at some point we need to dig into some meat about why they so want the Youngling, and why they're willing to kill it.
What's the threat, who's the big bad?
Now I get it, we're 4 episode in so they're still establishing things. But I don't want this to be like the old series Kung Fu with the endless wandering.

I thought the 4th episode was the least Star Warsy.
It was still decent, but it reminded me more of generic science fiction with some Seven Samurai thrown in.
Overall its been a pretty great series so far. I like the shorter episodes which is a departure from most drama series being hour long episodes now. Less filler, more meat. Or maybe its just my ADD.

There are only 4 more 30-minute episodes to go. I'm sensing not a lot happens, but there's a ridiculous cliff hanger at the end.

I'm hoping that there's more Gina in this.
I loved the fight they have, anything she does just looks like it hurts, I remember her kicking the hell out of Ewan Macgregor in I think it was shiplash.
But I loved the fight that ended with him asking her if she wanted soup. And then the pan over to the Yoda Baby.
The CGI on the walker was really well done.

So the one interesting thing that Cara's character mentioned, that she went from being a soldier to a peacekeeper putting down riots. Is it possible that without the empire's stabilizing hand that the New Republic has allowed the Galaxy to fall into chaos? We haven't seen any of the core worlds yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Outer Rim is like the Wild West and the New Republic has thrown in the towel on it.
With today's episode description of the law of the helmet, that he hasn't shown another person his face since he was 10, I think we can be pretty secure that he's showing someone his face by the end of the year, maybe the baby.
This is so very much like the man with no name westerns right down to the pose near the end with Cara sitting there drinking coffee and the Mando standing against the wall with his arms and legs crossed, it was a nice salute to the spaghetti western with the law man and his deputy watching over the town.
I thought in terms of direction Howard did a nice job, especially in the battle when the driver of the scout walker wouldn't take the bait and Cara showed what a heavy shock troopers job is.

Another solid episode, and I agree with the posts above. It's a really enjoyable series so far, but I hope the story starts to pick up over these last 4 episodes and we start to get a sense of why baby Yoda is being hunted.
For those who didn't notice during the credits, this episode was directed by Bryce Dallas Howard. I had no idea she had started directing.

I thought she did a great job and the whole walker thing was like a T-Rex chase.

Not in a rush to get any of those answered. Does he have a mission or goal? He was a guy for hire, who took pity on a kid. He tried to ditch the kid, still wandering. Perhaps he's still just aimless.
The one thing I'm interested in is who were the group protecting baby yoda initially, the one our main character took out in episode one. Who what when where why.. no rush.

Oh, I disagree. Walking up with his bowl of soup and eating the frog was top notch cuteness.

It would be nice if they started to "go somewhere", but at the same time, it's nice to see them taking there time for character and setting development.
The recent movies are way too fast-paced (other than the useless casino filler part).
I'm sure that as the series progresses, the plot will get more interesting and the stakes will be higher.
As for the most recent episode, a few things bugged me:
-Why did that daughter just uselessly stay in the puddle when the village was being attacked. Why did she force her mother to risk her life just to retrieve her. Does a 10 year old child not have enough common sense to run away? All the other children were...
-Why were they using wooden sticks to fight? Under no circumstances would sticks be a better weapon of choice than high-tech blasters. Not even in close range.
-Why did he break the tracking device while they were still close to the village? They should have flown to another planet, broken it there, and then left for another planet.
-Why did he take his helmet off while looking out the window? Any of the children could have easily seen his face. Assuming it wasn't some police force one-way window.
But I did like how the episode was longer than usual. It's nice to see they can just choose the length of the episode depending on what the plot requires. Every single character is great IMO.

The device he smashed was a bounty hunter tracking fob that seems to lead them to their bounty. From what they've said in the series so far it is linked to the bounties vital signs. But the fact that this exists creates way more questions to me.
Like why would he think it would be safe to leave the kid there if these devices exist? I guess he thought their town in the middle of nowhere was far enough away, so that must mean you have to be close to your target for the fob to work. Which i guess would also explain why the empire didn't just have fobs for all the rebels and could just easily locate them on hoth. So maybe not so many questions.

I'm pretty sure that most 10 years olds when facing a fast advancing horde shooting guns and killing friends and families would pretty much freeze and probably pee their pants. I didn't mind that part.
For the wooden sticks thing, there were limited guns and they didn't have enough time to smelt metal into swords. This was a peaceful farming community with not a lot of weapons. Also the sharpened stick training took place in the span of a day, it was probably the quickest thing they could learn. It reminded me of a Clone War episode where the Jedi trained the villagers to use staffs to fight Hondo's pirates. Also don't dismiss a staff in close quarters combat.
I actually liked the idea of a Mando not taking off his helmet in the presence of people, it does go against the Mando arc in Clone Wars where the Death Watch guys were flipping off their helmets all the time to have evil conversations with outsiders. But the hut wasn't lit and he was pretty much sitting in the shadows. I liked it from a shot wise, and you could almost feel the longing in him as he looked out as the villagers and children through the whole episode and especially the eating scene. I could have this life, and a family and peace.
The tracker thing to me is harder to think through. How would they get most of the bounties information for the tracker. Is everyone given a tracking chip when they're born? How good is wifi in a GFFA if you can track people across the galaxy with a fob? I know its digging into the ridiculous depth of Star Wars tech that most fans go to. I mean I would get it if a quarry was a former prisoner of the Empire, they'd go to jail and get a tracking chip like the Slave Chips from TPM. And why are there individual fobs for every bounty, couldn't they just have like a tablet that they could download the quarries information into?

Predictable episode but still fun, hopefully things build going forward.
The only thing I can't get over is the main character being called Mando the Mandalorian.
Come on Disney, you're killing me. If she was a girl would she be Lori Ann? Even Dal would have been better.

I forgot that Bryce Howard had a pretty major link to Star Wars, her dad came in to fix solo and is close to Lucas, and she's close to Portman and had been on the set of TPM.
