Chucky heads back home to Calgary

The Ducks made another blockbuster deal today, shipping off pesky Flames favourite Matthew Tkachuk.

The deal breaks down as follows:

I hated moving Tkachuk, but we wanted a solid return after giving up the farm for Hart and Provorov.

The Ducks get one of the best two-way centres in the game in Couturier who can anchor the 2nd line and play top PK minutes. We also get our 6th pick back which was tough to give up in the first place. That helps a bunch with our depth.

The Flames one of their favourites, plus some futures which helps as he continues to re-build.

This deal was a tough one to make. Ultimately Tkachuk was a guy we really wanted to bring in the organization for the long haul. He may have no other forwards to play with but that can be dealt with later! The price was large but if we add the Provorov deal to this, Curtis and I probably and up even.
