What is worth more, cash or a plane ticket? You can use cash for anything but a plane ticket for only one, to fly. On airmiles.ca 2400 miles will get you a set of oven mitts probably whereas I will pay $360 cash.
For $1000 I can buy a plane ticket without using points and save myself the $250 fee.
Booking flights and getting cash are two very different things. There is a very good reason why airmiles doesn't give you cash back for your miles becuase it just does not make sense.
I am looking for people who who usually do not fly and would rather take cash then waste their points on stupid magazine subscriptions or oven mitts.
For people that fly the deal isn't as good I guess.

I have so many aeroplan miles I will never use them all. The biggest reason is becuase I live in the middle of nowhere and it is impossible to get aeroplan seats for peak times like xmas. Aeroplan points are also much easier to accumulate than airmiles are however I have quickly learned that airmiles are much better for me booking flights out of here.

AP points arent transferable anyways....but speaking of Aeroplan, when is the last time you tried to book something with them??
for sacrificing around 25% more points (dont quote me on that exact number), there are no blackout dates and you can actually even bump a paying pax from thier seat....give it a whirl if you havent tried AP in awhile

You can convert your aeroplan points to airmiles. Points.com allows you to transfer them to HBC rewards, and then you can transfer your hbc rewards to airmiles at the HBC website.

Well I just did the calculations and the conversion kinda stinks.
50,000 Aeroplan points = 852 Airmiles.
Not good.

I just sold my airmiles to MJK and the trasaction went very smooth and payment was within hours of me sending him the airmiles. If you don't plan on using them for flights .15 cents an airmile is a way better deal then the 5 to 10 cents an airmile you get for redeeming merchendise

I just wanted to second what GGG said. I inquired if MJK was still looking to buy airmiles and a mere 4 hours later I have the money and the transfer of airmiles is complete. Top notch guy, will deal with again with no hesitation if the chance arises. Thanks MJK!

LOOKING FOR MILES AGAIN: I made 4 transactions and have a 100% feedback rating! LOL
I am willing to pay .15 cents/mile. You can buy miles for .30 cents when you purchase a ticket so if you would rather cash instead of an extra plane ticket I will give you .15 cents/mile for it.
3000 miles X .15 = $450
10,000 miles X .15 = $1500
An IPod shuffle would cost you 780 miles to buy. Would you rather an Ipod shuffle (which costs like $50) OR 780 X .15 = $117.
So, who wants cash for their Air Miles?

I have another transaction int he works. Not only do you get better value for your miles than you would buying stuff from the air miles store, you are helping out a fellow CalPuck member who likes to travel home in the Summer and Xmas but can't always do so becuase of how expensive flights are here.
A return flight costs me about $3500 so airmiles help a lot!

I will sell you mine once I have a couple thousand. All that will take is one good bonus airmile promotion one week at Safeway. I will keep you updated.

If you transfer your points do you have to shut down your account? What if you only transfer 50% of the points you have?

Transferring points means you have to cancel your account BUT you can open up another one at any time.
