I’ll do the usual and get tickets hours to kick off. Never fails.

Game is virtually sold out right now with only a handful of good seats left and a few rows of bad ones.
They were smart in not adding seats this year and going with a higher price point.

Apparently you can get discounted seats using the promo code "Rotary19". Only in the upper sections of P and V though...

I can't cheer for anyone else from the west and add in I don't really care for Andrew Harris and it is Go Hamilton for me.

Went down to the festival at the Stampede grounds to do a coaching thing with my team. I was surprised that it was pretty sparsely attended.

I bet tomorrow and Saturday will bring big crowds down to the festival. Thursday is kind of a slow night.

Yes, I do not want a team with a cheater on the roster to win the Grey Cup.

Pretty quiet in this thread leading up to Grey Cup... Banks wins the MOP award, Holley wins Most Outstanding Rookie.
Rob Maver and Ross Folan (sp?) from the Stamps also picking up some hardware last night.

I don't know if it's the economy, politics, or whatever, but this city sure is lacking a buzz. It's been missing for a couple years now and I thought with the Grey Cup being hosted here there would be an uptick in the atmosphere. I'm sure it will improve this weekend, but it just feels like this city is deflated.

I expect that Holley is going to get some serious NFL looks.
Don't forget that Huff basically won the man of the year award

I’m glad it’s not just me noticing that too. In my melodrama, I find it almost depressing trying to find some excitement around here, despite honest best attempts.
Anyhow, anyone catch the state of the league address this AM? Anything noteworthy, missed it. I’m concerned for the viability of the league and its ability to attract talent, wonder if he touched on it at all?

Yeah I'm noticing the lack of buzz in the city as well..I wonder if that huge dump of snow we got to kick off the week (and lingered for a few days) had a lot to do with it.
Also doesn't help when the Stamps aren't in it..it's such a shame how the Stamps have won the Grey Cup the year before hosting it the past 4 straight times, only to miss the big game the next year when it's at McMahon. Both 2000 and 2019 McMahon Grey Cups were the only time(s) over a four year period where the Stamps weren't in the GC (98,99, 01...16,17,18). Frustrating!
I'm just happy there won't be two shades of gross green playing on the field though...I'll take it.

Well, between the economy and politics, I think that's 95% the reason why the city is deflated (Grey Cup week or not). It's been tough sledding around these parts and a Grey Cup (that doesn't involve the Stampeders) likely won't move the needle too much.
Checked out the Grey Cup Festival today and there were LOTS of kids which was nice to see. As for the Festival itself, not that much different than last year in Edmonton, but still worth checking out if you've never been (i.e. same giveaways etc as last year). I find the one thing that is unique is seeing so many other teams and team colors represented in one place.

Funny thing, last night the Colts Bantam ran a fun practice on the field at the Festival. Because we were short players, we ran a 10 on 10 scrimmage and I grabbed Gordie who is the Bantam mascot (think big dog) and had him as our wide receiver.
However the best part, I put him at QB for one play. He throws a bomb and its picked off and he goes whipping down the field and throws one of the most awesome body tackles that I've ever seen.
Lots of fun.

In 10+ years I've NEVER seen Gordie do anything but walk around, wave, and pose for pictures, so this would have been a pretty remarkable sight...

Hopefully, the Dinos can deliver a football championship tomorrow to help boost the collective spirits of Calgary sports fans. Just a reminder that the Vanier Cup starts at 11 am Mountain time on Saturday and CBC will have the game. Go Dinos Go!
