I watched the Lower Decks trailer and its hit and miss for me, I love the concept, just because they never really addressed the lower deck guys in Star Trek all that often. I can think of one TOS series episode with the couple that shot phasers.
In TNG they had the one with the ensigns who were kind of equivalent to the bridge crew, and but for the most part it wasn't lower deck people that they focused on, but like scientists or researchers on the ship.
I know that what used to drive me crazy in TNG was that the Enterprise looked like a floating hotel with everyone getting their own cabins etc. I'd love to see people sharing bunk rooms, vacuuming floors etc, doing laundry so on or so far.
I liked the animation style in the trailer, I will admit that I didn't have a lol moment watching the trailer, so we'll have to see.

M'Ress had a brief romantic interest in Scott, while the ship was under the influence of Harry Mudd's love potion which had inadvertently spread through the ship's ventilation system. M'Ress' interest in Scott came in response to a joke he had made, to which she replied, "You're funny, and very attractive for a Human." Once the effects of the potion wore off, and Scott began to complain of a "hangover to shame all previous hangovers," M'Ress snarled, "Not so loud, you fool." In response, Scott snapped back, stating, "Yeah, well, all of a sudden, I don't like you much, either.

I sure hope that 500 years in the future people aren't wasting time vacuuming floors and doing laundry. I was hoping that'd be sorted in the next 10 years or so.

Cap, your disdain for Hotel Enterprise D is well known, but that was kind of the point. decades of not having an existential threat to the Federation led to hubris and complacency. they thought they were so advanced and well prepared that there were damn schools of children on a long range exploration vessel.
it wasn't until the Borg and Dominion started dummying Starfleet hotels that they came to their senses and brought back the more militaristic, metallic submarine designs, with some actual teeth to back it up.

What's funny about that is if you go back and watch Star Trek VI, you had bunk bed space on the Enterprise, probably for the never mentioned enlisted, they had cooking spaces phasering mashed potatoes. They had waiters serving the dinner. And that's only about 80 years from TNG.

Lower decks seems like the unholy union of Futurama, Rick and Morty, and Star Trek. Trailer looks great... looking forward to this more than ST that's for sure.

funny thing about the TNG era, it feels like a significant chunk of Starfleet prior to Borg/Dominion militarization was made up of old ass antiques that Kirk would have been familiar with. you still had Excelsiors, Mirandas, Constellations chugging around; hell even at Wolf 359 when the fate of the Federation was at stake, some Oberths and Constitutions showed up.
when Picard first boarded Enterprise D, the look on his face half the time was like, this place is softer than tribbles. I think Galaxy class was the Federation's attempt to show off its prosperity and sophistication to allies, enemies and unknowns alike. races would presumably be so impressed that they'd sign up for membership, or be freaked out by its considerable wingspan and stay out of Starfleet's way. too bad for the Federation that such an expensive ship exposed itself as a glass cannon not very long into its service life.

heres hoping the show isnt a total ####ing dumpster fire like discovery and picard.
I agree, Discovery is awful. But I quite enjoyed the first season of Picard despite a few flaws and some minor nitpicky stuff. Most Trek shows don't really hit their stride until two or three seasons in, so I'm betting Picard will be better in S2 now that all the introductory stuff is out of the way.
I'm definitely looking forward to Strange New Worlds. Pike's character was easily the best thing about Discovery.

I had zero trouble with Picard outside of some things about the cast around him, and the space ninja from the planet P.
But maybe for the most part I enjoyed it because of Stewart. I'm hoping that it tightens up for season 2.
I just think that Discovery is bad in a lot of ways, but I watch it waiting for it to break out. I thought that was happening in last years season, but the second half was just really bad and fell back into the bad habits from season 1.

DS9 for me really hit its stride in the Dominion War and became what I think is the best Star Trek series. It pushed the envelope on Roddenberry's vision and gave depth to the Federation.
