I know there have been many of these over the years, but, given the current down-time, I figured it'd be fun to do one up again. (I know that for me, I've been going down a fun-Flames-season rabbit hole...mostly thanks to AC...)
(1) Yes, kids, this would have been considered a "masterful edit" at that time...VHS, after all...
(2) Let's use this thread to post decent links to help us get through this time of self-isolation and/or social distancing...(you know--what Edmontonians do perenially regardless... )
Number one memory of all time is still Dave Jones' goal in game 1 in 2015. Sitting at the BP on 17th, the place goes crazy, and the whole restaurant starts going even more nuts when they see I'm wearing that guy's jersey. To this day I've still never seen another Jones jersey. When Russell scored the winner... man what a feeling.
That whole series against the Canucks was a ton of fun but that's one that'll always stick with me. Shame that BP is now closed.

Such good memories of that game 6.
I remember the game ending after 7 a.m in the Dutch morning, just before I had to go to work.
Back then I couldn't watch any games so Peter Maher was my voice of the Flames. He was so damn good. Made me feel like I was there.
Such an awesome time that was.

Love this video! I bought it on ebay in the very early 00's, pre paypal, when you still had to mail a check to the seller and wait for it to clear. I remember it took like 2 months for that baby to ship from Canada to Connecticut. I haven't actually watched it in a while but I seem to remember Colin Patterson using the word "cocky" like 10 times in a span of 20 seconds in one segment! LOL. Will revisit that link at some point this week.
There was also "The Official Video Yearbook - 1989", which was essentially a recap of the season then broke down each playoff game--really good stuff and I haven't seen that one go up on Youtube yet. I got it for Xmas probably in like 96 or 97 from the FanAttic catalog that I used to receive every year. This tape had the infamous "Come light the Flame" song. Pretty brutal, but it played over a season recap which was amazing.

So this one is totally random and I'd be shocked if anyone remembered this game besides me.
I grew up in Connecticut in the 90s and my dad made it a yearly tradition to be sure we always got tickets to the Flames/Whalers games (we're talking 93-97). For whatever reason CGY played Hartford for a Pre-Season game prior to the start of the 95-96 season and of course we got tickets (I would have been 8 at the time). This is Hartford in the mid-90s and no one really cared about the team, you can imagine the attendance for a pre-season game in September against Calgary. Memories of the games are as follows:
1. Jim Paek played for the Flames. Yes. I have zero photographic evidence of this. But he 100 percent played for the Flames during the 95-96 pre-season. Someone can back me up on this, right?
2. There must have been 5-6 fight in this game. Kruse, Stern, McCarthy, Huscroft all played. Kruse and Scott Daniels fought at least twice. Kelly Chase went with Stern and McCarthy.
3. Best memory of the game? Easy. During warmups Jason Muzzatti broke his stick, came to the bench and handed it to the trainer. I was posted up right next to the bench in my MacInnis jersey and the trainer saw me and tossed the stick over the glass! I was thrilled and also had to carry the stick the entire night--but whatever, I felt like a badass walking around the Civic Center with it.
Not entirely sure who won, as I've never been able to find a box score for the game. I know dropyourgloves.com had the fight log from the game at one point but the site no longer is active. Funny thing was--Jason Muzzatti was placed on waivers a few days later and was picked up by Hartford!

Bad result, but Gio's first 2 NHL goals in his hometown, Lombo with a great shorthanded effort (Bob Cole calls him Friesen), and classic Iggy and Langkow magic.
Also Cassie Campbell's first broadcast, with Bob Cole capping it off by calling her "girl".
Not impressed by the quality of that video, so here's my version I just put together including Conroy's recollection of it, and the Rathje blackeye aftermath:
