I mean, the team does better when the opposing coach picks the matchups.

Has Ward even called one? A single one?
Show me evidence that time outs impact the game one way or another.

I am not a Ward fan but in no way is he worse than Gilbert. Gilbert was the worst coach ever AINEC.

All flames coaches with the initials GG are infinitely worse than ward.

That said he sure isn’t separating himself from the mediocre to awful

To be fair, Cassie complimented Gaudreau on the addition to his repertoire of dumping the puck in

Thanks, coach!

I happen to think the common dominator has been Brad Treliving's reluctance to go for 'best coach available' when hiring. He's done a lot of great things as a rookie GM, but his coaching hires have been very Jay Feaster-ish (we know something everyone else doesn't).

Dave tippet would’ve been a great hire instead of peters. Just look at how he had the oilers playing...

Also probably not racist

Greg Gilbert was definitely the worst. Management chose him over Marc Savard when they had a feud.

Both sucked but I'll take Gilbert over Goofus.

I can't be bothered building the flow chart but it's pretty simple.

Are Geoff Ward's initials GG? If No then not the worst head coach ever.

They know if they’ll be in for a track meet or if they should expect a defensive grind of a game. They certainly play a style against the Oilers that is more conducive to success than in the past.

This team’s biggest problem has been their desire i think. These players just don’t have that burning desire to compete against the bad teams. They’ve been able to get up for the good teams. But they think they can just skill their way to victory against the bad teams.

They bought into their own hype as the second best team last season and I’m not sure any coach can force their team to care. Ken Hitchcock certainly didn’t help the Oilers last season and he’s a hall of famer. I think Treliving’s goal should be to find skilled guys with that 4th line mentality like Crosby has or guys who step on the peddle even when up. That killer instinct and that never satisfied attitude. That would help this team stay more consistent on a day to day, game by game basis.

Comparing the winning percentage of coaches is meaningless when it is obvious that quality of the team has been vastly different over the decades. Maybe comparing Peters with ward and Hartley could be meaningful, but still probably not.

That being said these knee jerk threads are a bit tiring after every flames loss.

Squeak into the playoffs and hire Darryl Sutter on a week to week contract..
$125K for weeks 1 and 2
$250K for weeks 3 and 4
$500K for weeks 5 and 6
$1M/ week after that.

Bring in Sutter as an "advisor" in mid april, who just so happens to stand on the bench with his tan suit and highway tie on.

I would suggest you hop on the google and take a look for goals scored after a time out. Theres thousands of examples of it working.

Thousands?
I wonder if there has ever been any goals scored without a timeout? Probably a few there too.

Not defending Ward, just saying let's not be ridiculous.
