Well that was underwhelming.

While Jay Hernandez and Perdita Weeks are decent actors, this premiere was short on charisma, long on weird exposition, and pretty boring.

I don't think its going to last long.

They would’ve been better of just replaying the original series. Although that’s the case with pretty much all these reboots.

The best part of the entire thing was hearing the music again, and what I presume was the original car from the original series, at least until he cliffed it.

Was a big fan of the original series, but I have zero desire to watch this.

Was underwhelmed with the pilot last night but will give it some more views before making a final decision.

'Magum PI?'

Was that a typo or does he wear Dentures now and his polident's grip was not as sufficient as advertised?

I’m waiting on a Simon & Simon reboot. I honestly don’t remember anything about the original show outside of Hawaiian shirts and Ferraris. I can’t imagine tapping into the rich mythology of the Magnum universe should be too diffficult.

There should be an 'Odd Couple' reboot but using ageing 80s sitcom stars.

Don't know if that show needs to be rebooted twice in 3 years.

I'd much rather watch a Hunter remake.

Or Blue Thunder!

Reboot? Not interested. They’re pretty much all inferior to the originals.

Add in Tom Selleck's mustache and the helicopter with the Vancouver Canucks paint job and that's all there was to it.

Would you settle for one with an aging 90s sitcom star?

The original was a great show.

The cast had great camaraderie. Magnum was flawed and relatable, there were the ongoing bits where TC was always grudgingly tallying up the cost of gas for the chopper, and bullet holes. Magnum and Higgins had a great dynamic, Higgins typically not admitting to having any respect for Magnum, referring to his tawdry / sordid profession, like it was primarily photographing people having affairs, Magnum always having to negotiate privileges on the estate, Higgins telling those long stories, not noticing that Magnum left.

Magnum’s overdubs were as much about confiding with the viewer as about advancing the plot, and he often broke the 4th wall. The book he kept mentioning he intended to write worked for plot but also as his unfulfilled ambition.

There were some longer term dramatic arcs - for example the ongoing question whether Higgins was Robin Masters, the ongoing story of Magnum’s family - his wife that he couldn’t be with due to political reasons, his daughter who was in a car that exploded.

I can’t think of a show of that era that I liked better. It had a lot of character and was unique, I thought.

Beyond the Ferrari and shirts, there was a world class moustache

Looks like iTunes is your only option: https://itunes.apple.com/ca/tv-seaso...gn-mpt=uo%3D4# Only available for purchase, $70 for everything, $15 per season or $3 per episode.

I watched the first episode and deleted by scheduled recordings. Like all the other recent CBS reboots, it just didn't make me want to watch any more episodes.

There are just some shows that should never be rebooted. Especially when the actor(s) make the show what it was. Right from the advertising I knew this one would suck. The writing is terrible as is the casting.

I'm sure Tom Selleck is smiling - the show was his baby, and looks to be staying that way.
