Default The Avengers [Spoilers]

Like others have said a thread should probably be made just for The Avengers as this movie will be huge.

Comes out midnight tonight. I know some of us have tickets for the midnight release and some have tickets for tomorrow (like me).

Now that the movie has been released, there are no need for spoiler tags (in this thread anyway).

It's an awesome movie. Great action and plenty of wit. Plus, the mid/post-credit scene has me absolutely stoked.

Spoiler!

I am boldly going to proclaim that this will be the best superhero movie of all time. This will be the perfect amalgamation of an action movie and comic books (think Sin City meets TDK).

Do I nap or not before I go to the midnight show?

I fell asleep for 10 minutes of Star Wars Ep 2. I went back the next afternoon.

Think of it like a pre game ritual. load up on carbs. take a nap, drink 4 2l bottles of jolt cola, then buy a bottle of chocolate syrup and choke it back

You'll never sleep again.

Do they still sell Jolt? I use to drink their Cherry Cola all the time.

I'll be going to see it in UltraAVX Saturday, wonder if it will seem even better when everything is bigger and louder.

It's 941pm. Pre AVX theatres, I would be in line right now for a midnight show so I could get a good seat.

Sitting at home for these extra two hours is so worth the extra couple of bucks.

I definitely love the ability to reserve seats, especially with these big movies. So much better, especially when you have a decent sized group going.

As a Hulk fanboy, I am thrilled with the treatment he got in the movie, as previously discussed.

I really didn't like the movie at all. I thought the 3D took away from the action and the cinematography was completely amateur. Why does every scene with CGI need to hve a spinning camera?

On top of that, there was almost no plot. Most of the film was dedicated to character development even though we have seen all the characters before.

The fight scenes were the only part that didn't have me yawning.

Spoiler!

Judging by reaction in the theatre and on this board, I'm not going to have many supporters on this.

P.S. Did anyone see the costumes at Chinook?

I didn't go to Chinook, the costumes would have been fun to see. I didn't see any costumes at Sunridge.

A definite weakness of the movie is that the story assumes you've seen the prerequisite movies - without those, even the character development is hard to follow. It's very comic book-y in that sense - you're joining a serialized story mid-stream, and it's not the easiest jumping on point for new viewers. I don't think there's a great way around this without a ton of additional exposition in a movie that is already almost three hours long. And for fans of the movies to date, it's really a non-issue.

Spoiler!

Hulk should not be in the Avengers. Give me Wasp, Scarlet Witch, Vision and Black Panther.

Fair enough. But it's a package deal and you also get Starfox.

well IMO The Avengers is the best comic book movie to date. i loved almost everything about it, and it perfectly brought together all the movies that came before it (which i thought would be the hardest part). and Hulk's treatment of Loki is now one of my favorite movie moments ever. can't wait for the sequel

There are 2 scenes in the credits. The first is after the main 3D credits, the second is after the wall of scrolling text. Most of the theatre stuck around for the first, there was only 6 people watching the 2nd. The 2nd isn't as important, but it's a nice scene to end the movie on.

Just got back from an 11:10am showing at Chinook. I really loved the movie - it was just fun from start to finish. I will concur with those who say The Hulk (and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner) stole the show. Surprised to see Black Widow featured as much as she was.

I also wasn't expecting the twist of

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Probably the most complete comic book movie I can recall seeing.

The only downside is that the UltraAVX 3D has given me a splitting headache. Man, that was loud!
