Default Recommend a Soya Sauce Brand

Call me picky. I just want a soya sauce that has honest-to-god soya sauce flavour and won't make dishes taste like an entire salt-lick was dumped on top.

It seems that whatever random brands I've been buying are overwhelmingly salty, and darned skinny on the fermented soy-bean flavour.

What's your brand, and how would you rate it?

Soy sauce is salty ... not sure you're going to escape that. I go Kikkoman.

Read the ingredients. I like soy sauce made only with soy beans, no wheat. It tastes authentic. Most brands mix in wheat for the fermentation.

San J is one of the brands I like

Look for soy sauce sans MSG and wheat.

^ Braggs is a good choice as well!

I have tried all the above and recommend San-J Organic Tamari Gluten Free Soy Sauce.

You will never go back and the others will taste salty. You mostly need to seek this out in speciality asian stores.

I got hooked on China Lily as a kid when our family used to go to the old Northland Mall and go t0 the Chinese restaurant Hong Kong. They used to have that on the table with bowls of sesame seed that you dipped your fork in.
