There is no good argument against ranked voting if your goal is to have a fair election.

Is a fair election the goal or is effective government.

Stelmech and Redford were products of ranked choice. There is a reason that the liberals want ranked choice and the Greens / NDP want proportional and the Cons want FTFP. Each has different pros and cons in terms of fairness.

In genera for civic elections without parties you might be right but Id be concerned with flavourless non-offensive candidates getting elected. I’d rather have Druh’s and Chu’s then all centrists.

From what I've seen, historically, he's pro nothing and con everything. He made his mark complaining/tweeting about everything and fighting and tweeting against other councilors instead of working with them. People seem to think he's a contrarian/devil's advocate trying to score points with the public that hasn't actually constructively done anything.

I actually don't think this is a fair comparison. Kenney does stand for things. They're not things I personally agree with, but he does have an agenda. Farkas's entire time on council can be summed up as opposing literally everything, regardless of merit, while simultaneously being a lying weasel who completely fabricates misinformation* and then acts like a martyr when he's forced to apologize.

*For anyone unaware, a few years ago Farkas posted a "voting record sheet" on his Twitter account that purportedly showed he was the only member of council to vote for a property tax reduction. No such vote ever occurred. He just made the whole thing up and counted on his fans and supporters to believe him without checking the validity of his tweet. He was penalized by the council ethics commissioner and then acted like he was the victim.
