Yeah Brodie alone won't get you Stone. Not sure adding Bennett gets you there. Might need a second/third round pick or a prospect to make it equitable. Stone is a pure goal scorer and exactly what the Flames are missing.

Why do people think Bennett is a throw in piece in a trade that already includes Brodie? Bennett is 20 years old with tons of upside. Sell low on him and watch it bite Flames in the ass.

Panarin is the first name out there that I've really been interested in. It would be like adding a second Gaudreau.

Undervaluing due to being disappointed fans.
Look at the return Domi just pulled in.
Don’t worry, Treliving knows better.

Yep. They tried wooing him before he chose Chicago.
And in all seriousness, if the Flames are contemplating moving Hamilton, Panarin is a guy you move Hamilton for.
RHS, 25-30 goals a year, close to 80pts a year.
Don't want to move Hamilton, but if they feel the need this makes sense to me.

Maybe a significant part of his value is the belief in his ability to take a regular shift. A player who brings half the offense tkachuk does but bring elements of the rest of his game is still a valuable player, if you get the offense as well, great. If you don't, you have some assurance that his mix of size and speed will make him an effective player even if he isn't a top line scorer.

Just second hand hearsay though.

Well, I am not sure about that. Jordan Staal was definitely over-rated on the basis of his name, and I remain a little sceptical that Sam Reinhart would have been drafted #2 had his last name been "Danubkidny."
But beyond that, I am not sure what your point is. Everyone agrees that Brady Tkachuk is a great player—the dispute here is how he compares to his older brother: I maintain that he is likely not as good.

He isn't a throw in. It is based on Brodie's play the last few years and the fact that Stone was PPG player last year, is 6'4" and hasn't peaked.
If we were talking about Brodie two years ago I think Brodie + a pick would be sufficient but there is two much uncertainty whether he returns to his previous form.

I thought he was close to signing with the Flames before the Hawks grabbed him.

I think the top concern would be what are his plans after the contract is up. Is going back to Russia a real possibility?

I'd move almost anyone on the Flames roster for Panarin. Dan that'd be a catch.

He is entering unrestricted free agency in a year. I most certainly would not trade away "almost anyone."

Yes you'd want to extend him immediately and would try to get that framework in before the deal.

Hard to say what they would be looking for in return for Panarin, but this is the first name (in my mind) that would actually put Hamilton in play. Up til now it's all been noise. Panarin is as talented as Stone and is a RH RW.
I'm guessing they would want a hockey trade in return.

Well if he is unwilling to discuss an extension with the BJs right now, what makes him more likely to discuss an extension with another team?
Unless he just wants out of Columbus badly.

edit: wrong year
iirc calgary was in panarin's final 3 before signing with Chicago

Thats kind of it. We don't know. Is he unhappy there? Would he be happier elsewhere? Does he hate Torts?
My apologies for speculating in the trade speculation thread.
