Rough trade for Greer who has been excellent, but come on...lets get Pelletier some minutes!

If Pelletier builds momentum he may become my favorite Flame. I've been a big fan of him since his first young stars game in Red Deer.

No Klapka then? I thought he was pretty good up here. Hope he gets another chance here soon. I liked him more than Duehr on the 4th line.

Coronato stays down.. not too shocked. I think he should stay down and build his game hy nominating the AHL.

I agree that Coronato should stay down. He's not effective enough at the NHL level right now and he would benefit big time from continuing to be counted on in big situations at that level. He'll probably get some more games down the stretch but I'd love to see the Wranglers load up for a Calder Cup run

Coronato is in the AHL All-Star Game today and tomorrow, so this could be a temporary recall for Schwindt or Rooney and Coronato will swap in after Tuesday's game.
I'm sure Coronato would love to play on this road trip since the three NYC games are all close to his hometown.

Maybe Pelletier can spark #10. French connection or something.

So rooney 4th line center?
Or does schwint roll in there?
Roster is going to become a patchwork quilt right away

Obviously cheering for Pelletier and Schwindt, but I also hope Rooney does well. He stood out like a sore thumb last season and eventually got sent down never to return again. During training camp and preseason, he looked like he put in the work to turn his career around, and then got derailed by an injury. I hope that he steps in and does well for the rest of the season - maybe even gets picked up at the trade deadline, or is at least able to find another home in the off-season.
Huska is going to have a lot of options and line combos to work out.

I have a feeling the flames will be out of it right away. We don’t need more wingers up. We need centers. The cupboard is a little bare at that position. Could probably say the same on D after what I think is coming.
Could be a painful last 30 games.

That all makes sense, but if that's the plan, why bring up Rooney? Why not just leave him down and add Coronato when he's back?

First Line Centre

I bet Coronato is called back up after the AHL all star game, Schwindt/Duehr is sent back down, and Tanev is traded for a pick and a prospect, before Tuesday’s game. My guess at how the lines look:
Huberdeau - Sharangovich - Kuzmenko
Zary - Kadri - Pospisil
Mangiapane - Backlund - Coleman
Pelletier - Rooney - Coronato
Duehr/Schwindt
Hanifin - Andersson
Kylington - Weegar
Gilbert - Pachal
Oesterle
Markstrom
Vladar

Which is honestly ok.
We’re right in that pack of teams above the bottom 5 in the league. A pre trade deadline losing run can be the difference between drafting 6th without lottery luck, and 16th.
And of our next 20 games, only one is against a tank team. 13 are against playoff spot teams and 6 against teams with playoff aspirations (maybe not MTL and WSH by the end of this stretch).
We’re basically 2/3rds of the way through the season and we’ve been dealt entertaining hockey and held the illusion of a playoff hopeful. I’d love to see Conroy ship out Tanev, Hanafin and Markstrom, sinking us to the bottom of this group and giving us a marginal chance at Celebrini or at least a solid first round pick.
Short term pain for long term gain.

It will be good to see what Pelletier can do with the new coaching staff. I liked his energy last season, but he didn't do too much that made me think he is a top 6 player in the NHL. He didn't do anything that made me want to write him off either. He is still kind of an unknown to me at this point.

all fair. I think its somewhat promising to note that in the 2 fullish years they were teammates he outproduced Zary (yes he's older- but it's a 6 month difference) so hopefully - like you say- in a new setting he can also shine (noting of course that amongst other things he's had an injury setback)
