It's a shame. The E90 was generally enjoyable to fly as a passenger, although they were not cost effective, hence the decision to replace them with the 220.

The 75 and 90 are still some of my favorite jets, not only to fly in but look at. I'm sure my mind will change the first time I try a 220.
AC fleet page still shows 14 90's and 25 75's. Did they end up getting rid of any? 90 number looks low, I wonder if Boeing took the 20 and ended up leasing them out.

Yup, I enjoyed flying on the E90. When the kids were babies the rear lav was bloody spacious and made changing a diaper a breeze.

Just looked at the YYC-HNL flight for WJ. No surprises here but they are moving all passengers on the direct flight over to ones that connect via YVR. Doesn't look like there's any new flights or capacity on the route. Certainly no wet leasing either.
Fares are about 5-10% higher though from when I last checked at Xmas....

Oh boy, there are 34 MAX simulators in the world currently. I don't believe WestJet has any, does Air Canada? If simulator training gets required as per the governing aviation bodies this could cause further delay to reintroduction to service.

I wonder if 737 sims can be software upgraded to Max sims without much difficulty? One of the main points of the Max was to have the sim and training be the same, so I'd think the physical parts of the sim cockpit are identical.

I'm sure CAE could run a variant of the software for specialized MAX training. However, I would think that programming would commence after the final version of the plane is accepted by the FAA. This could add even extra delay to pilot training and getting planes hauling passengers again.

CAE started building more 737 sims back in November, that was pretty good foresight on their part. Will be interesting to see if existing sims can be flopped back and forth between NG and Max. That would be ideal for
I would think Boeing will be paying for a lot of these for their clients who purchased the Max. Or paying for the upgrades to existing sims.
I believe Air Canada also has 737 simulators (as does WestJet).

If AC has the 737 simulators they will already be MAX ones, but WestJet's will be the NG 737 version.

Correct.
Actually simpler for AC to retrain their pilots that it will be for WestJet for this reason and for reasons mentioned yesterday.

AC has the only Max 8 Simulators of any North American airline. They will have a very distinct advantage over....everyone.

Air Canada says it is the only North American airline with Max simulators, which could lead to swifter resumption of Max service when the grounding ends.
"These pilots are not just sitting around sort of doing nothing. We're actually able to have some simulator training for them…including having modeled some of these scenarios that occurred in the two accidents," Rovinescu said.

Unless like someone said, older sims can be reprogrammed for a Max 8.

I flew CS300/A220 on Swiss last summer. It is my #1 jet now.

Love the 3-2 seating config in the new Airbus, just like the old DC 9's.

Air Canada pushes the MAX back in its schedule to June 30.
WestJet pushes it back to June 24.

Funnily, they will be capped at flight level 290 while they wait for an engine-related software update.
