Question: If Montreal has Calgary’s first round pick from this year’s or next year’s draft,is either pick “top 10 protected”? Given that we jettisoned our top centre and 2 elite defensemen relatively late in this season, do we think next year’s Flames are going to have a higher or lower draft pick to give to Montreal next year?

Could you imagine the revisionist outcry that would happen in both teams ended up with top 6 picks?
Conroy is such an idiot for mismanagement assets and not giving them the pick last year!

Whoever would say that is ill informed since Conroy can't "give them" the pick. They had the option to claim it if it was 20-32, which it isn't.

Could you imagine not being smart enough to understand who was GM at the time and made the deals in question???

Why, yes, I could. Somebody on CP tried to blame Treliving because Conroy offered Lindholm a contract extension last summer.

This stuff seems to be happening lately, what's worst is they make a dumb post, leave the thread without reading the responses and come back a day later and do it all over again.
I won't shame the guy but I corrected him 3 times in 4 days for the same thing.

I’m impressed. You don’t score 39 without special skill

He also seems like the kind of guy that can bring a bit of levity to the room at a time it's probably needed.

Kuzmenko is probably our most dangerous forward right now. Kadri and sharongovich are right on his heels.

People will be lamenting the trade of the first round pick until 2030 and continue to find ways to assign blame to whomever they please, be it Edward's, Bean, and it's not unfathomable that somewill will say Conroy being part of the executive staff at the time should be blamed too.
Florida likely will be in the 20-30 range next year so it's not going to be an issue. I look forward to the day the conditions from deal that can be put to bed and hope that's the end of the complaining.
In the mean time it's good to see Kuzmenko looking confident again and playing better. Conroy comment about focusing on what he can do on after hours will hopefully let the Flames build up his value for next year. But I'm sure you'll find a correction to make...

Canucks were 33-11-5 up until this trade
Canucks are 14-11-3 since this trade

Kuzemnko is on a 32 goal 60 point pace as a Flame
If he does that next season he will bring back a pretty good return if dealt at the deadline

Kuzemnko adds dimension to the PP
If the PP was even middle pack - the Flames would be a playoff lock.

The quality of Conroy's asset management this year has been A+
Mangiapane, Kuzmenko and Sharangovich could each net first round picks and prospects next year. And Marky will likely get a first round pick and prospect in the off-season.
So between the 2025/2026 draft, flames could end up with seven first round picks
