Firstly, just because he's being benched for some team infraction doesn't mean he'll never play for the BJ's again. These things happen.
Secondly, even a discounted BoBo starts with your first round pick and goes from here. There are many teams that would feel BoBo might be the missing piece to winning a SC. Calgary would likely be one of those teams.

Complete speculation on my part, but I wonder if he was pissed off (either because of the benching or because he's been struggling) and rather than sit on the bench, just kind of dressed and walked out while the game was still going on
I seem to recall Shayne Corson bailing on the Leafs once when he was scratched, and it caused a big stink when he stayed home rather than attend the game and sit in the press box.
But I could be completely off. Just my guess from what is out there.

But seriously, how could anyone say that Varlamov is a better goalie than Bobrovsky after seeing them both play in recent seasons?

Oopsie!:
Elite Bobrovsky:
32 GP, 18 W, .906SV%, 2.87GAA
Just Good Varlamov:
26 GP, 11W, .908SV%, 2.85GAA
You really "got me" there, Captain. The elite-ness is just dripping from those numbers. So much better than Varlamov...

LOL, Pepsi, you went through all that work!
Bobrovsky is a better goalie than Varlamov, that's for sure though.

It was very hard clicking to the page and using multi-quote. I might pass out.
But sure. So much better. So much elite. Your insight was as accurate as usual
Hopefully Tre takes your advice and bites the bullet and pays Bob the big bucks, amirite??

So, given that he is Russian, he showed up to the game drunk?

Absolutely, if the price and term are reasonable. Unless Rittich proves to be the next Kiprusoff.

You said last 5 years and then posted stats for half a season.
Is there a reason for that.

If Bobrovsky does get moved before the deadline, I can see SJ as a partner. Sharks are all-in and Jones isn't playing great.

SJ has less than $1.0 m of cap space and Bobrovsky carries a $7.5 m cap hit. They have no first round pick in 2019 or 2020, and no second round picks in 2019 and 2021. I don't see what SJ could offer to entice CBJ that would not be easily matched by another team with more cap room, more picks, and more enticing young players to send back in return.

He’s probably upset because they offered Panarin free whiskey for life if he re-signed and didn’t make the same offer to him.
